Xiaomin Li, Jiantao Zai,* Shijie Xiang, Yuanyuan Liu, Xiaobo He, Zheying Xu, Kaixue Wang, Zifeng Ma, and Xuefeng Qian* Transition-metal sulfides (MSx) have attracted increasing attention as electrode materials for lithium storage batteries based on conversion reactions due to their higher theoretical capacities compared to traditional intercalation materials.[1ā€“6] For instance, molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) exhibits a theoretical capacity of 670 mA h gāˆ’1, which is nearly twice that of intercalation graphite anodes.[7,8] However, these MSx electrode materials always exhibit poor cyclic stability.[9ā€“14] The limited performances of MSx are usually a result of the multiple electron transfers occurring per metal center during the conversion reactions, which makes the conversion of the metal sulfide to metal and Li2S in the initial lithiation process largely irreversible (Figure 1a). As a result, most of the Li2S generated in situ cannot effectively react with the metal at lower voltages (
