Registering your Game Console or Streaming Device on the Network In order to use your device on the Fitchburg State University network you will first have to register its MAC address. Follow the subsequent instructions on how to obtain the MAC address of your system and then proceed to the self-registration instructions at the end. A MAC address is a set of six 2-character pairs separated by colons (e.g. 00:01:C3:EF:C0:1A). One set is for your wireless connection and one set is for your wired/Ethernet connection Once you’ve obtained your MAC address(es). Proceed to the last section of this article on instructions on how to register your device. Before you Begin Make sure you have: Computer already registered on the University network Television or any display you can attach your device to Ethernet cable or wireless connection (via adapter if applicable) The Device
Microsoft Consoles Xbox 360 To find the MAC address of your Xbox 360: 1. On your console, go to [Dashboard], and then go over to select [System Settings]. 2. Select [Network Settings]. 3. Select [Wired Network] or the name of your wireless network, if you are prompted to do so. 4. Select [Configure Network]. 5. On the [Additional Settings] tab, select [Advanced Settings]. At the bottom of this screen you'll see a heading called "MAC Address." Xbox One Press the Menu button on your controller Navigate to the Settings page Select Network, then Advanced Settings From there you will find your wired and wireless MAC addresses.
Sony Consoles PlayStation 3 From the PS3 main menu screen Select Settings, then System Settings, Then Select System Information. This screen will display your PS3 MAC address. PlayStation 4 Arrow up and over to Settings Scroll down to Network, Then to View Connection Status The MAC address will be listed
PlayStation Vita On the Vita Home Screen tap Settings, and then tap Start Swipe up on the screen to scroll down to and tap the System option Tap the System Information option; your MAC address will then be displayed
Nintendo Consoles & Handhelds Nintendo Wii From the Wii Channel menu, select [Wii Settings] (the round button on the bottom-left of the screen with "Wii" on it). Select [Internet], then [Console Settings]. The MAC address of the Wii console is displayed on the first line.
Nintendo Wii U From the Wii U Menu, select "System Settings." Using the Left Stick select the "Internet" icon and press the A Button. Select "View MAC Address" and wait a moment for the MAC address to be displayed.
Nintendo DS To find your Nintendo DS's MAC address, you will need a WiFi-enabled game for the Nintendo DS. From the official Nintendo WiFi website: The MAC address of the Nintendo DS can be found by going to the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection Setup in the game's menu. Select [Options], then [System Information]. The MAC address is displayed on the top line. New Nintendo 3DS From the HOME menu, highlight and select the System Settings icon Select Internet Settings Tap Other Information Tap Confirm MAC Address and wait a moment for the MAC Address to be displayed.
Nintendo Switch From the HOME menu, highlight and select the System Settings icon Select Internet The MAC Address is displayed on the right.
Streaming Devices AppleTV (See AppleTV Documentation) Go to the main menu on your Apple TV and select [Settings]. In the Settings Menu, select [About] Here you can find your MAC Address listed as Wireless ID Alternate method for locating the Wireless MAC Address of your AppleTV: The AppleTV Ethernet and Wireless network MAC addresses can be found on the UPC label on the AppleTV box. Google Chromecast (See Chromecast Documentation) You will need to bring your Chromecast to the IT help desk to set it up. Roku You can find your device MAC addresses on the bottom or back on your Roku player (depending upon model), otherwise alternatively, from the Roku home screen, select [Settings] [About]. The MAC addresses will be listed on-screen. Smart TV/Bluray Player To locate the MAC Address of your Smart TV or Bluray Player: Most MAC Addresses will be visible in the Settings Menu, either under the Network or About sections. Alternatively, check with the manufacturer for instructions on how to obtain the MAC Address for your specific model.
Self-Registration When you have the MAC address handy, go to http://enac.fitchburgstate.edu/self_registration (available on campus only), sign in with your Falcon Key (same as BlackBoard), and click Add. Under MAC Address type in the MAC Address without the colons or dashes (e.g. 00:11:22:ab:cd:e1, instead 001122abcde1), then a Description of the device type.
Any computer, gaming console, cell phone, or other wireless device can be registered with this process through the Self-Registration page using its MAC address. You Are Done! At this point, you should have completed registration and be able to access the internet.
