Nancy is a Professor Emerita in the Tippie College of Business with an appointment as well in the College of Law at the University of Iowa. She retired December 31, 2013 but retains teaching responsibility for teaching law and ethics in the MBA programs in Italy and Hong Kong. She has a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Rhode Island and a J.D. from the University of Iowa. She was the Associate Dean of the Undergraduate Program in the Tippie College of Business from and again as interim from January 1 – March 30, 2009 and served as The University of Iowa Ombudsperson (1993-1996), mediating complaints and providing problem solving information for students, faculty, and staff. She was interim Director of the CIMBA study abroad in Italy program in 20121013 and remains active teaching in the program. As a Professor in the Department of Management and Organizations, she was the first recipient of the Williams Teaching Chair in the College of Business Administration at the University of Iowa. This was the first Chair awarded on the basis of teaching excellence at the University of Iowa and it was held by Professor Hauserman from 1997 until her retirement in 2013. 9:45am – 10:00am Break 10:00am -11:30am : Emotional Well-Being. This presentation will give you added insight into how you can be your best. How do we leave the emotions at the door and grow our profession. 12:15pm – 1:30pm : In 2017, Bargerstock and co-author Jahn Ballard, released their book Managing Leadership Alignment: Linking Value Creation to Cash Flow (Business Expert Press, New York). Based on more than 20 years of consulting projects, this book reveals a systematic methodology for closing the gap between business planning and implementation. The Ballard Method engages the entire organization from senior leaders to all other employees in an adventure of sharing their collective genius to improve and simplify business processes according to unanimously agreed priorities. When properly implemented, this methodology brings dramatic improvement in cash flow from operations while markedly improving organizational efficiency and employee morale. In this presentation, Dr. Bargerstock will provide an overview of the method and its benefits for senior leaders. Recommended CPE Credit 1.5 Speaker: Andy Bargerstock, MBA, CPA, PhD, is Director of the MBA program at Maharishi University of Management in Fairfield, Iowa and President of Vanguard Resource Group, Inc., a consulting and training company with expertise in lean management, lean accounting, and personal investing. Bargerstock is a certified lean management facilitator with experience in guiding continuous process improvement teams in industry and higher education. He has published several articles in Public Personnel Management, Management Accounting Quarterly, and Strategic Finance. He has been recognized by the IMA as 2014 Menconi Award winner for best case study in accounting ethics. In June 2017, he co-authored an article that was named Lybrand Gold Medal Award winner for best article of the year in advancing thought in managerial accounting.
