Liebherr tower cranes at work on the Aquiris sewage treatment plant in Brussels, Belgium. 16 Liebherr tower cranes of the EC and EC-H series and a 35 KR fast-erecting crane on crawler-track undercarriage are being used on the construction of a new sewage treatment plant in Brussels. Five brand-new top-slewing cranes of the 245 EC-H 12 Litronic and 280 EC-H 12 Litronic types were delivered to this construction site directly from Liebherr-Werk Biberach GmbH through the Belgian dealer van der Spek NV/SA. A treatment plant for the sewage of more than one million inhabitants is being built on a 8.6-hectare site next to the Senne
river in the north of Brussels. The sewage treatment plant is divided into four quadrants – the largest one being 300 metres long and 84 metres wide. The Liebherr cranes used on this construction site guarantee a smooth handling of loads. Twelve top-slewing cranes are working in stationary version and four cranes are used on rails. The Aquiris sewage treatment plant construction is scheduled for completion by October 2006 and will be put into operation in March 2007.
