Retail Performance Pulse Year-Over-Year Report March 2017
Summary Performance March 2017 YOY Average Year-Over-Year Growth/Decline March 2017 was an improved month for physical retail with the lowest declines in sales and traffic since November 2016. Sales were down 8.1%, traffic was down 9.2%, while transactions were down 10.1%. Shopper yield and ATV were up 1.1% and 2.1% YOY, reversing a two month decline for both metrics while conversion remained flat. The shift of Easter from week 5 March of last year to April week 3 of this year impacted traffic later in the month of March with week 4 declining sharply (traffic and sales). Week 5 benefited from traffic increase on Sunday as compared to LY (Easter) and showed less of a decline in both sales and traffic. Shopper yield and ATV increased for 4 out of 5 weeks during the month, while CVR increased during weeks 1 and 2, remaining flat in week 5 (see page 4).

High & Low Days of March 2017 Saturday, March 18th was the best shopping day of March 2017, as Sales, traffic, ATV and transactions all reached their peak values. Conversion was strongest on Thursday, March 9th, while shopper yield reached its highest point on Thursday, March 30th. Conversely, Tuesday, March 14th was the lowest performing shopping day of the month, as CVR, shopper yield and transactions were at monthly lows. Tuesday, March 7th accounted for the lowest traffic, while sales and ATV were at a low on Monday, March 6th. Returns were highest on Monday, March 6th and were lowest on Saturday, March 11th.
