Roles and Responsibilities of the Treasurer

Role:

Treasurer

Responsible To:

State Referee Committee through the State Referee Administrator

Role Purpose:

Managing the organization's budget, overseeing income and expenditures, and advising the Committee on financial matters.

Commitment:

1-3 hours / week for a 2-year appointed term.

Main Tasks: o

General financial oversight. o Oversee and present budgets, accounts, and financial statements to the Committee. o Ensure that appropriate financial systems and controls are in place. o Ensure that record keeping and accounts meet the conditions of statutory bodies. Financial planning and budgeting. o Prepare and present budgets for new or ongoing work. o Advise on financial implications of strategic and operational plans. o Present revised financial forecasts based on actual spend. Banking, Bookkeeping, and record-keeping. o Manage bank account(s). o Set up appropriate systems for bookkeeping payments. o Make and receive payments. Present regular reports on the organization’s financial position and present accounts at the Annual General Meeting. As a voting member, attend policy meetings of the State Referee Committee and advise the SRC on policy matters.
