Relative to the conduct of the 2016 Regional Sports Competitions on February 7-13, 2016 to be held and hosted by the City Schools Division of Dasmarinas, Dasmarifias City, Cavite, this is to inform the field that classes of the public elementary and secondary schools to be used as billeting quarters will be suspended from February 8-12, 2016 to give way to the said event. 2.

However, in cognizance to the DepEd Order No. 9,s.2015 which indicates that the "School Year

(SY) 2015-2016 shall consists of 201 school days, inclusive of five-day INSET break ", make up classes will be held on five (5) Saturdays starting January 9, 16, 23, 30 and February 20, 2016. The said make-up classes are done to compensate the number of no-school days spent -

during the activity, 3.

School heads should ensure the maximum attendance of teachers and pupils / students during make-up classes.

Attached is the LIST OF SELECTED SCHOOLsTO BE USED AS BILLETING QUARTERS, for your ready reference. Please be guided accordingly. For compliance.

2016 REGIONAL SPORTS COMPETITIONS

To:

Schools Division Superintendents

In cognizance of the importance of strengthening the school sports program and in pursuance of Republic Act No. 10588 :An Act Institutionalizing the Conduct of the Palarong Parnbansa and Appropriating Funds therefor, the 2016 Regional Sports Competitions for regular, students with disability and Alternative Learning System Stre.i.gth.e.^.i4.43 tkev (ALS) athletes with the theme " Sporty : Aft , A ve".4.4.4... Cu./titre, of Era...W.f....144i CALA8ARZON" 2016 at the City of Dasmarinas.

2. Screening and evaluation of athletes' documents shall be held on February 1 - 6, 2016 at the Regional Screening Headquarters, Division of Dasmarthas City. Division Screening Representatives are advised to submit the required athletes' documents and be at the Regional Screening Headquarters on February 1, 2016 at 8:00 a.m. Failure to comply with the submission schedule will automatically disqualify the concerned athlete(s)/team(s) to participate in the 2016 Regional Sports Competitions. 3. Attached is the list of sports events to be played and the number of athletes, coaches and chaperons. 4. All divisions are expected to provide all athletes with learning interventions as part of their academic program to compensate for missed lessons. Likewise, school heads concerned shall take responsibility in assigning competent teacher/s to handle the affected classes in compliance with 180 days non-negotiable teacherpupils/students contact time. 5. Participation rules implemented in the 2015 Regional Sports Competitions and all other issuances not rescinded by this Memorandum shall govern the conduct of the 2016 Regional Sports Competitions.

6. Coaches, chaperons, trainers, delegation members and officiating officials who will render services during weekends shall be given Service Credits and Compensatory Overtime Credits (COC)for the non-teaching personnel based on the actual services rendered prior to and during the Regional Sports Competitions. 7. Immediate dissemination of this Memorandum is desired.

The School Calendar for School Year (SY) 2015 2016 shows the school events 1. and activities for the said SY. The core events and activities for this SY, which represent the actual teaching-learning days, shall be strictly observed in all schools. -

The SY 2015-2016 shall begin on Monday, June 1, 2015 and shall end on Friday, April 1, 2016. The SY will consist of 201 school days, inclusive of the five-day In-Service Training (INSET) break. The different school events and activities, including the number of school days per quarter, are contained in Enclosure No. 1. 3. Private schools may deviate from this School Calendar. However, they may not start classes earlier than the first Monday of June and not later than the last day of August, as provided in Republic Act (RA) No. 7797 entitled An Act to Lengthen the School Calendar from Two Hundred (200) Days to Not More Than Two Hundred Twenty (220) Class Days. They should notify the appropriate DepEd officials in advance regarding any deviation. Specific guidelines are provided in Enclosure No. 2 to enable the schools to 4. effectively and efficiently conduct/undertake/implement the school events and activities and to allow the regional offices (R0s) and schools division offices (SD0s) to provide support to the schools, especially in the areas of instruction and progress monitoring and evaluation. Schools may observe national and local celebrations, holidays and advocacy 5. activities other than those indicated in Enclosure No. 3, provided that the total number of school days shall not be compromised. Make-up classes can therefore be conducted to compensate for the school days spent for activities deemed beneficial to the learningteaching process. Likewise, make-up classes are recommended in lieu of no-school days due to occurrence of a natural and man-made calamities. A mechanism for having make-up classes must be agreed upon by school administrators and parents. In this regard, the RO may issue a regional school calendar to reflect their respective concerns. 6.

Immediate dissemination of and strict compliance with this Order is directed.
