SAP DASHBOARD DESIGN COMPETITION 2013 PHILIPPINES All undergraduate students from tertiary institutions in the Philippines are invited to participate in this competition. No prior IT or programming skills are needed. As long as you have an analytical mind and a passion to win, you can join in the challenge!

2013 THEME: THE BEST OF GLOBAL CORPORATIONS Each team is to create an interactive dashboard to analyze the Fortune Global 500 List for the Year 2013 and/or earlier. Contestants are free to decide what highlights to present on their dashboards, for example, by location, CEO’s, top companies, or other interesting aspects of the list. Each team's dashboard will be judged on its usefulness, usability, data quality and documentation. Ten (10) finalist teams will be shortlisted to present their dashboards at the Country Finals where the top five (5) teams are rewarded with attractive cash prizes and/or in kind.

RULES •Each team will consist of 3 to 5 members from the same institution. •The dashboard must be built using SAP Crystal Dashboard Design software (free download). •Each team must describe the purpose of the dashboard and the analysis it offers to viewers (in less than 100 words) •The dashboard data can be found at the official Fortune Magazine website: http://money.cnn.com/magazines/fortune/global500/2012/full_list/index.html. Teams are allowed to use data from other reliable sources but they must be clearly acknowledged. •All submissions must be in English. •All submitted materials must be original materials created by the members of the team. If previously published contents are used, they must be properly attributed to the original author.

JUDGING CRITERIA Each dashboard will be judged based on the following criteria: Usefulness Does the dashboard give users an (40 points) insightful analysis on the data displayed? Usability (30 points)

Is the dashboard easy to use. Is the overall presentation attractive with right mix of colors, charts and images?

Data Quality (20 points)

Is the data accurate? Is it formatted and structured properly?

Documentation Is the project well-documented and (10 points) user manual easy to understand? Bonus (5 points)

Wow Factor for creativity and total user experience?

STEPS AND RESOURCES These are the steps and resources to understand the competition, learn dashboarding, and submit your team's entry. 1. Join the University Alliances Community at www.uac.sap.com - Click "register" on the top of this page - Register as a "public user" and select "Student" from Profession list and enter the name of your institution in "Company" field - On the Communities and Newsletters tab, select "University Alliances Community" and "BusinessObjects Community" to be our the distribution list 2. Download SAP Crystal Dashboard Design software and follow instructions to install software on your labtop (only on Windows Operating System) - For this competition, use 6-month product keycode DB10M-R7D6008-UXGKZ99B02XEH instead of the 30-day keycode given. 3. Learn to build a dashboard - Review Product Tutorial to help you create an effective dashboard. We strongly recommend that you complete all of the tutorials before starting to create your dashboard. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQS) Who are eligible to join the competition? All undergraduate students in an accredited university, polytechnic, college university or tertiary institution in the Philippines can join the competition. You are eligible to participate as long as you are enrolled as a student on September 20, 2013 (registration deadline). Students who are less than 18 years old on September 20, 2013 need to fill up a parental consent form. What is the purpose of the competition? The purpose of the competition is to instill in tertiary students a passion for self-motivated learning and to introduce them to Business Analytics and Reporting tools commonly used in the corporate world through a fun and engaging manner. What is the SAP Crystal Dashboard Design software? The SAP Crystal Dashboard Design software is an easy-to-use tool to turn complex company data into engaging, interactive dashboards that enable you to track key performance indicators, visualize emerging trends, and instantly understand the impact of changes to your business. Turning data from spreadsheets or live data with "point-and-click" ease, the software provides consolidated views of key metrics so that you can gain business insights with "what-if" scenarios and make informed decisions quickly. Not at all! The SAP Cystal Dashboard Design tool is pre-built with object browsers, property windows and tool bars that are really user-friendly, even for non-IT students. As the designer of the dashboard, the most important step is to decide what information you want to present and how the information is related to one another. As long as you have an analytical mind and a passion to win, you can join in the challenge! What is the 2013 theme? The 2013 theme is The Best of Global Corporations. One of our objectives is to inculcate teamwork, an important skill to learn before you join the workforce. Each team should consist of 3 to 5 team members from the same institution. These members can be from different schools or faculties in the same institution. How do we submit our completed dashboard? A link will be sent to all participants on how to upload the completed dashboards and other accompanying documents. What are the documents required for submission? All submission must include all of the following documents: - Dashboard (.swf and .xlf formats) - 100-word summary of the dashboard - Simple user manual embedded in the dashboard - Documentation

Where will the competition finals be held? The Finals will be held during the SAP Analytics Workshop on November 28, 2013 (Thu). The exact venue for the Finals will be announced later. Ten (10) finalist teams will be shortlisted to present their dashboards at the Country Finals. The top five winning teams for each country will win cash prizes plus trophies. All the 10 finalists will receive gift packs. What are the system requirements for SAP Crystal Dashboard Design 2011 software? Minimum System Requirements on PC or laptop: - 1 GHz processor with 1GB of RAM - Microsoft Windows XP or Vista Operating System - Microsoft Office 2010 (must be 32-bit version) or Microsoft Office 2003-2007 Where do I find the SAP Crystal Dashboard Design 2011 software? The software can be downloaded free of charge from SAP webstore. Instead of using the 30-day key code provided by the website for normal product evaluation purposes, please use the special key code provided in this competition with a 180-day validity. Can SAP Crystal Dashboard Design 2011 software be installed on Macintosh Operating System? No. SAP Crystal Dashboard Design 2011 can only be installed on Windows Operating System. What should I do if my SAP Crystal Dashboard Design expires and needs to be reactivated? If you use the correct key code provided in the competition, the software should have a 6-month validity to cover the entire competition period. In the unlikely event where the software expires, check back the same link for an updated 6-month key code. I have encountered the following error message, "This action cannot be completed because the other program is busy" when I download the software, what should I do? You should click on "retry" and wait for the program to be responsive. Can student create an info cube to support their dashboard? Student need not create an info cube for their dashboard. Data should be sourced from reliable sites and mapped onto the embedded spreadsheet and components in the SAP Crystal Dashboard Design tool. Can student integrate add-on/third-party components (i.e. XGlobe, XScorecard, Xtree) into the SAP Crystal Dashboard development environment to build their dashboard? Students are encouraged to use Dashboard Design add-on components where applicable. They can use third party add-ons if they do not slow the application. Remember, when the designer presents the final dashboard to his viewers, the "initialization" process should not take too long and that is affected by the file size of the dashboard. Can student apply excel functions like vlookup and hlookup into the embedded spreadsheet to support their dashboard? It is not advisable to use functions like vlookup and hlookup as they will slow down the application.
