Script for ‘Points of view’ Invite everyone to face the ‘Streets of Jerusalem’. Reader 1: Hello, I’m Jo and I love being in Jerusalem with my family. We come from Spain and my dad travels a lot because he works as a trader, buying and selling stuff in different countries. Jerusalem is just great at festival time. I enjoy the celebrations, but most of the time I can’t understand anyone. People speak all different languages in Jerusalem. Ask the children to turn and face the ‘house’. Reader 2 reads Acts 2:1–6. Ask the children to turn and face the ‘streets’. Reader 1: The other day there were loads of people in the market place in Jerusalem. Suddenly I could hear a man talking in my language. I could understand what he was saying – but he wasn’t Spanish! It was weird. He told us that Jesus was alive and God loved us! But that was weird, too, because we’d heard about how Jesus had been put to death on a hill outside Jerusalem. Some people said Jesus was God’s Son and that he’d come back to life again three days later. Everyone turns to face the ‘house’. Reader 2 reads Acts 2:14,15,23,24,32,33. Everyone turns back to the ‘streets’. Reader 1: This guy, Peter, said that this morning he and his friends were praying to God. Suddenly they heard a noise like a strong wind. Then they saw what looked like flames jumping around on people’s heads! Peter said they weren’t scared because Jesus had told them it would happen. Jesus had sent his Holy Spirit to help them. It was amazing! The wind and the flames were signs of his power. It was the Holy Spirit that helped everyone to speak different languages – without having lessons! Wow! God wanted them to be able to do that so they could tell all the different people living in Jerusalem about Jesus. Face the ‘house’. Reader 2 reads Acts 2:37,38. Turn back to the ‘streets’. Reader 1: That day we decided we wanted to belong to God and become followers of Jesus – Christians. So did about 3,000 other people in Jerusalem! God gave us the Holy Spirit and since then we have been learning a lot about God, and he’s great! I feel part of a big family. My favourite time is when we all get together to worship Jesus. It helps us to remember just how great he is and that his Holy Spirit is always with us. It’s awesome!
