POSITION SUMMARY The Social Media & PR Associate is responsible for maintaining the voice of STG across social media, institutional and external printed materials, and under direct supervision. The associate will share relevant content daily on a variety of social media platforms while working with individual show budgets, tracking metrics, identifying trends, monitoring / responding to online conversations, and exploring new opportunities for patron interaction and satisfaction. The associate will also directly support the PR Manager with creating and compiling program books, copywriting, editing, and press requests. This is a full time and benefited position. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but not limited to the following: 1. Create, publish and share content daily including but not limited to original text, comments, images, video and more to build online connections and encourage interaction.
2. Work within show budgets to boost appropriate social media content and provide backup to marketing managers. Work with marketing managers to set up and run paid Facebook ad campaigns on a consistent, show by show basis. 3. Monitor, moderate and assist in driving audience engagement across social platforms. 4. Analyze social media activity and community engagement and share data, insights and best practices with the marketing team. 5. Escalate patron complaints to internal team when necessary and assist in resolving them. 6. Maintain content calendars for social media and institutional printed materials and program books in collaboration with other marketing team members. 7. Explore new platforms to expand social reach and ensure STG remains ahead of the curve. 8. Research and connect with potential Affinity Group partners in the community. 9. Research content related to upcoming shows, Education programs and our venues for use on social platforms and in printed materials. 10. Work with PR Manager to coordinate press release distribution, media pitches, on sale announcements and print deadlines. 11. Responsible for content generation and management for program books and additional internal and external publications, as well as keeping archival records. QUALIFICATIONS 1. B.A. in Communications and/or Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, or equivalent work experience, preferred. 2. Minimum 2 years’ experience executing paid social media and PR strategies for an organization, brand or agency. 3. Excellent writing, editing, research, and organizational skills required. 4. Knowledge of social analytics, online marketing and a good understanding of major marketing channels required. 5. Experience effectively communicating with members of the press. 6. Highly communicative, with a passion for excellent customer service. 7. Excited by the challenge of a fast-paced, ever-changing environment. 8. Ability to exercise confidentiality and discretionary judgment. 9. Willingness to work nights, weekends and holidays as needed. 10. Ability to work independently and as a team member, while using discretion in decision making and sound judgment in problem solving. 11. Interest in and ability to learn the intricacies of a presenting theatre organization.
12. Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of STG. 13. Position may require lifting of over 25 pounds.
