Setting up a “Vacation” or auto-response message The Squirrelmail program on Ion includes a plug-in called “Autoresponder”. It allows our users to set up an automatic email response when people send you emails. This is helpful in a variety of situations, such as when you are going on a trip and may not be able to respond to messages quickly or regularly. Here’s how to use Autoresponder: Login to Ion using the Squirrelmail program: http://ion.chem.utk.edu/webmail Click Options in the menu items at the top, and then click Autoresponder. Now simply complete the form, and click the checkbox to enable the autoresponse. Autoresponder will not send the autoresponse message to the same person every time they send you emails. Usually they only get it once, but if your “vacation” or trip is very long, it will eventually send again to people who received it before. When you return, or are otherwise ready to stop the autoresponse, simply return to this page and UN-check the “enable” checkbox.
