shelter of my love. And when you meet the light of day, you'll never have to fear what you will see. You are the hope of all that can be. Feel the peace around you; when you awaken you will come to know That innocence and wonder are veiled by the guns and bombs and wars. With every challenge feel your strength; Let your goodness shine that it may be A shelter of courage, a shelter of light and dreams, a shelter of love, a shelter of peace.

Holy Place These are the gifts that we bring that we may build a holy place. This is the weaving of our lives we bring to make a holy place. We will bring all the goodness that comes from our hearts And the spirit of God will dwell within. These are the prayers that we bring that we may make a holy place. These are the visions that we seek that we may build this holy place. Let our promise forever be strong, let our souls rise together in song, That the spirit of God and the spirit of love will bless this holy place.

You Are the One/Reb Nachman’s Prayer You are he One, for this I pray That I may have the strength to be alone. To see the world, to stand among the trees, and all the living things. That I may stand alone and offer prayers and talk to You. You are the One to whom I do belong. And I’ll sing my soul, I’ll sing my soul to You And give You all that’s in my heart.

Sing unto God Sing unto God, sing a new song O sing praises to God, give thanks to God with a song O sing praises unto the One above Let us rejoice, all ye righteous And cry out to our God with joy Sing out from your hearts, O sing praises to God. Bless God’s name, O sing unto our God a song of prayer Sing praises to the One, sing unto God. Sing unto God, sing a new song unto God.

T’filat Haderech May we be blessed as we go on our way. May we be guided in peace. May we be blessed with health and joy May this our blessing, amen. May we be sheltered by the wings of peace May we be kept in safety and in love May grace and compassion find their way to every soul May this be our blessing, amen.

Miriam’s Song (*Additional Song*) And the women dancing with their timbrels Followed Miriam as she sang her song Sing a song to the One whom we've exalted Miriam and the women danced and danced the whole night long And Miriam was a weaver of unique variety The tapestry she wove was one which sang our history With every strand and every thread she crafted her delight A woman touched with spirit, she dances toward the light

COMPOSER FEATURE Born on February 23, 1951, Debbie Friedman was one of the most influential and beloved Jewish musical figures of the past 40 years. She was an important singer, songwriter, and guitarist and recorded 21 albums of her original music. Originally influenced by American popular music of the 1960s and 70s—Peter, Paul & Mary, Judy Collins, Joan Baez and Joni Mitchell—she, in turn, influenced younger singers and songwriters with her own dynamic style. Having struggled with an undiagnosed neurological condition for 20 years, Friedman died of complications from pneumonia on January 9, 2011 (at the age of 59). Citing her wide influence in synagogue music and her impact as faculty member in her final years, Hebrew Union CollegeJewish Institute of Religion renamed their Cantorial School in her honor in 2011. It is now called the Debbie Friedman School of Sacred Music.

PRAYER for OUR COUNTRY

Source of all Life, Guide our leaders with righteousness, Strengthen their hearts, but keep them from hardening. That they may use their influence and authority to speak truth and act for justice (Isaiah 16:3-5). May all who dwell in this country share in its bounty, enjoy its freedoms, and be protected by its laws. May this nation use its power and wealth to be a voice for justice, peace, and equality for all who dwell on earth. May we be strong and have courage To be bold in our action and deep in our compassion, To discern when we must listen and when we must act, To uproot bigotry, intolerance, misogyny, racism, discrimination, and violence in all its forms, To celebrate the many faces of God reflected in the wondrous diversity of humanity, To welcome the stranger and the immigrant and to honor the gifts of those who seek refuge and possibility here, as they have since before this nation was born. Let justice well up like waters, and righteousness like a mighty stream (Amos 5:24) © Rabbi Ayelet Cohen
