Sigma Chi Fraternity - Contract and Oath of a Ritualist By and between Sigma Chi Fraternity and any and all persons who present themselves for Ritualistic Certification. I hereby swear to the following on my honor as a Sigma Chi: 1. That I am an initiated member in good standing according to the records of the Sigma Chi Fraternity, headquartered in Evanston, Illinois. 2. That I desire to take advantage of ritualistic training for the express purpose of becoming a certified Ritualist, either Peer, Master or other forms as are made available. 3. That I understand that I will have access to information which Sigma Chi considers extremely confidential. 4. That I will keep eternally and inviolably secret, from any and all non-members, anything revealed to me during this training and subsequent certification and study. 5. That I will return in a timely fashion and orderly manner, all materials provided to me for training, study, certification, or obtained by me for use in training others. 6. I will not copy or in any way cause the information provided me, physically or digitally, to be duplicated in any fashion, whether digitally or otherwise, without legal permission. 7. That I will continue my efforts to be a student of our Ritual, employing the Ritual Renaissance curriculum, and will actively convey those positive principles and teachings to our members during the term of my appointment. 8. That I will do no harm. Further I recognize that there were times in our history whereby traditions of ordeals, and activities now considered hazing were in common use. I commit not to glorify or romanticize those periods, regalia or traditions, and instead to denigrate those and any other cultures of hazing or abuse whenever possible to do so. 9. That I agree that an intellectual approach to preparation for brotherhood creates a stronger and more lasting connection to our principles and to each other. That I will make an active effort to keep both members and prospective members from harm and injustice. That if my efforts to teach and interpret in a positive manner fail, I will actively confront and intervene to prevent or stop any hazing activities in any of its many forms. 10. That I will accept the definition of hazing as set forth by Sigma Chi authorities. 11. That I agree to comply with all lawful orders of the Grand Consul, Grand Chapter, Grand Council, or Executive Committee of Sigma Chi. 12. That I will make my best efforts to assist in the ritualistic training of others in my province for a period of at least 3 years as a Peer or 8 years as a Master, without expectation of financial reimbursement from anyone. 13. That the penalties for violation of this Contract and Oath will be severe, subjecting me to potential expulsion from membership and harsh civil penalties.
