SILENT AUCTION Have lunch with Ireland and Lions rugby player Paul Wallace. During his career Paul played for UCC, Munster, Blackrock & Leinster before moving to his professional team with Saracens (1996-2001) and back at Leinster (2001). He won 46 caps for Ireland between 1995 and 2002, as well as playing the full duration of all three tests in the 1997 British and Irish Lions tour to South Africa. Captain, Martin Johnson described him as “my player of the series”, with tour manager Fran Cotton regarding him as the cornerstone of the Lions scrum. Since injury complications curtailed his rugby career, Paul has gone on to become a well known face in commentary and sports journalism, and enjoyed a second specialism in Irish commercial property sales, acquisitions, and debt restructuring. Paul’s older brother Richard played wing for Ireland, earning 29 caps for his country, and touring New Zealand with the 1993 Lions. Paul is offering to have lunch, dinner or a few drinks at a mutually convenient venue and date: In the pub with your mates, in the run up to the ENG-IRE 6 nations clash, or invite him to a dinner party in your home. Once the venue and date are decided, he is open to inviting one or two extra ‘of the lads’ for the craic. (Unlikely to be possible on day or night of an actual Ireland match due to media requirements) –

A maximum of 20 guests will be treated to an eyepopping walking tour of Shoreditch, Brick Lane & Old Street (1.5/2hr) led by graffiti connoisseur Chris Pensa, Founder & Director of Love Art London and The House of Graffiti. Love Art London is a bespoke events agency that curates unique experiences for businesses and their clients. The House of Graffiti works with London’s most celebrated street artists to design and execute bespoke graffiti commissions in both domestic and commercial settings. If you are interested, Chris can organise a bona fide graffiti artist to ‘bump into you’ en route, speak briefly about their work, and even to give guests a super cool small-scale piece of street art to keep (will be charged at cost). Despite the fact that Boris Johnson has armed swat teams dedicated to graffiti removal, Street Art belongs to a rich tradition. Ever since Neanderthal Man first started drawing on the wall of his cave, humans have been using their immediate surroundings as a canvas upon which to communicate images and ideas. And let’s be clear, we’re not talking about kids who scribble “Wayne LUVS Tracey 4 EVER” on the side of a bus stop in return for a Big Mac. No, we’re talking about artists who make beautiful, bold and distinctive work using the urban landscape as their studio. Banksys are now auctioned at Sotheby’s and Christie’s alongside Monets and Picassos, David Cameron even gave Barack Obama a work called 21st Century City by graffiti supremo Ben Eine as a gift on his first official visit to Washington. – Kindly donated by loveartlondon.com

Maddox Art is pleased to present this piece by Cipriano Martinez. Born in Caracas 1965, he studied in the Chelsea College of Arts and Design, his most recent solo show was in Miami. Cipriano is an abstract painter who finds inspiration in the urban chaos of overpopulated cities. The apparently ordered visual field is fragmented by small spaces, voids, dislocations and incomprehensible absences in the pattern. The artist distances himself from incorporating figuration of the city, a visual economy in which there is a geometric reconstruction of the bi-dimensional plane with no recognisable reference to the urban framework. In his work you can see dynamism and movement as in every city. Title: Red Spill. Year: 2013. Medium: Silk screen. Edition: Ed. 2/20. Size: 119 x 80 cm (framed). – Kindly donated by Cipriano Martinez & Maddox Arts .

Maddox Art is pleased to present this piece by Peter Griffin. Born in 1947 in Yorkshire, he studied in the Royal College of Art and went on to win the Rome Scholarship in Painting. His recent shows include a solo show in the Mark Rothko art centre in Latvia and another one in Maddox Arts, London. Peter’s paintings fuse abstract and figurative elements to represent man’s never-ending attempt to make sense of life. He focuses particularly on issues of love and the denial of love in a personal and in a wider cultural, political sense. When asked about the ideas and content of his paintings Peter replies that they are about “”what it means to be alive””. Title: Splash. Year: 2013. Medium: Oil on canvas. Size: 39 x 34 cm. – Kindly donated by Peter Griffin & Maddox Arts

Maddox Art is pleased to present this piece by Willard Boepple. Willard is a sculptor and has been influenced by Anthony Caro in his early period, he works on wood, aluminium, bronze and resin. Known as one of the most logical, single minded sculptors and one of the most unpredictable. His Monoprints are made after the sculpture in order to understand what happened during the making of it. Transparency and opacity are often combined on his paper works. Title: 19.2.15E. Year: 2015. Medium: Monoprint. Size: 48.3 x 43.2 cm. – Kindly donated by Willard Boepple & Maddox Arts.

Nicolas sometimes draws inspiration from the romantic sublime, geometry, abstract expressionism and Taoist teachings. Title: Repose. Year: 2015. Medium: Silk screen. Edition: Ed. 2/13.
