SmartMusic 2012

What is SmartMusic? SmartMusic is interactive software that transforms the way students practice:   Students and teachers have access to thousands of pieces of music and it’s constantly growing.   Instead of practicing alone, students practice with background accompaniment and hear how their part fits within the whole.   Students get instant feedback, they see which notes they’ve gotten right or wrong and/or hear a recording of their performance.   SmartMusic allows teachers to individualize instruction and document the progress for every student.

All the repertoire included in SmartMusic 2012 can be assigned to your students through SmartMusic

Concert Repertoire SmartMusic currently supports concert band, jazz ensemble, and orchestral repertoire.   Students practice with rich audio accompaniments.   Students see the music onscreen.   Practice with full SmartMusic functionality.   SmartMusic assesses the performance.

Repertoire not in SmartMusic? Use SmartMusic to support every piece you’re rehearsing. All you need is a CD audio recording of the arrangement you are rehearsing:   “Rip” the track, save as an .MP3 file.   Import into the SmartMusic audio player.   Play in any key and tempo.   Loop measures to practice.   These files can be assigned to students through SmartMusic’s online capabilities.

Using SmartMusic with Finale® You can create your own accompaniments and assessable files:   Solo repertoire   All-State audition etudes   Ensemble: choir, orchestra, concert and marching band   Ensemble: duets, trios, quartets   These files can be assigned to students through SmartMusic’s online capabilities

Mobile App!

SmartMusic Inbox Access, grade and monitor all SmartMusic assignments on your:   iPhone®   iPad®   iPod® touch®   Android 2.1 + phone

  Free download: App Store and Android Market

Why is this important? If a student has NotePad downloaded on his/her computer:   Create a theory worksheet in Finale, assign it to your students. They notate the answers and submit it back to you in SmartMusic’s online gradebook.   An example: have the student notate a key signature, scale or rhythm, or use one of Finale’s 1,000 editable worksheets.   Best news of all:

It’s Free!
