Important Information about Dormant Accounts Our legal obligation: If an account is dormant for five years, which means no one has transacted business using the account— no deposits, withdrawals, transfers, etc.—we are legally obligated to transfer the funds to the state of Ohio. We do this annually. Dormant account holders will be mailed letters (and forms) in July. If you do not want your funds transferred to the State, then sign, date and return the form immediately after receipt or make a transaction (i.e. deposit) on the account. If your account balance is more than $10 and we do not hear from you, we will send your funds to the State of Ohio. If your account balance is $10 or less, we’ll zero out the account and close it. If you have questions, please call 419-381-2323.

“In Action”

Your Credit Union in the Community...

Tell Congress, “Don’t Tax My Credit Union!”

There is a very important tax matter that will have a huge impact on Your credit union. Chartered as nonprofit financial cooperatives, credit unions have always enjoyed tax exempt status. But now there is talk in Washington, D.C. of possibly eliminating the tax exempt status of all credit unions, including ours. Basically, that means the benefits (lower fees and higher dividends) you experience as a member may be in jeopardy. If credit unions lose their tax exempt status, they’ll be forced to pay taxes with funds typically tied to the benefits that have been passed on to members. As a result, credit unions across the country have banded together for “Don’t Tax My Credit Union”, a national campaign designed to increase awareness about this tax issue among 96 million credit union members nationwide. Our hope is that this grass roots effort will convince Congress NOT to tax credit unions and to preserve financial choice for American consumers. As a credit union member, you can let your voice be heard in Washington. Please visit our website: www. EducaCU.com or www.DontTaxMyCreditUnion.com to learn more about this tax issue. Once open, click on the triangle play button and view the video to learn more about “Don’t Tax My Credit Union”. Open the “Take Action” link and follow the appropriate steps to send a letter to your legislator in support of Your credit union. Thank you in advance for your support.

Tiffany Mercer, winner of two movie passes for her entry in the youth week coloring contest

Hats off to young savers who deposited over $6,000 during youth week (April 22 -27, 2013)! More than 108 deposits were made during the week. We encourage the youth to keep saving. Why? Because it’s important to learn to save early for things you may want in the future. We were happy to match each deposit up to $10 per youth. Watch for other credit union fun activities throughout the year.

We asked and you gave: Thanks for your Support! Your generosity resulted in over $1,200 raised for our own St. Vincent Mercy Children’s Hospital. We appreciate your giving spirit.
