Spiritual Communion When unable to receive Holy Communion, it is a pious practice to make a Spiritual Communion. Say the following prayer of St. Francis: I belie ve t h a t You, O Jesus, are in the most holy Sacrament. I love You and desire You. Come into my heart. I embrace You. Oh, never leave me. May the burning and most sweet p o w e r of Your love, O Lord Jesus Christ, I beseech You, absorb my mind that I may die through love of Your love, who were graciously pleased to die through love of my love.

Prayer Before Communion Come, O blessed Savior, and nourish my soul with heavenly Food, the Food which contains every sweetness and every delight. Come, Bread of Angels, and s at i s f y the hunger of my soul. Come, glowing Furnace of Charity, and enkindle in my heart the flame of divine love. Come, Light of the World, and enlighten the darkness of my mind. Come, King of Kings, and make me obedient to Your Holy Will. Come, loving Savior, and make me meek and humble. Come, Friend of the Sick, and heal the infirmities of my body and the weakness of my soul. Come, Good Shepherd, my God and my All, and take me to yourself. O most holy Mother, Mary Immaculate, prepare my heart to receive my Savior.

Anima Christi Soul of Christ sanctify me; Body of Christ save me; Blood of Christ inebriate me; Water from the side of Christ wash me; Passion of Christ strengthen me. O good Jesus hear me; Within Your wounds hide me; Never permit me to be separated from You; From the evil one protect me, At the hour of my death call me, And bid me come to You That with Your saints I may praise You forever. Amen. St. Ignatius
