INTRODUCTION The Center for Positive Practices (CPP) is pleased to submit this stakeholder survey briefing to the Mesa Vista Consolidated Schools (MVCS, the district) and its stakeholders. Sixty-six (N=66) MVCS stakeholders, primarily parents, responded to a 41-point survey designed to assess stakeholder morale, concerns, pride, and perspectives pertaining to the their relationship with the district. Survey respondents reported the following demographics: a. A majority of participants (56%) stated that they have been associated with the district for 10 years or more. b. A majority of participants (59%) stated that they have lived in the area for 20 years or more. c. A sizeable number, 65% of participants reported that they are between 19-40 years old, with another 29% stating that they were over the age of 40. d. A substantial combined majority of participants (32+48=80%) stated that they had either a High School or College/Trade School education. About 17% of participants also have attended graduate or professional school. e. It was determined that about 31 respondents/parents, slightly less than half, are associated with El Rito Elementary and 35 are associated with Ojo Caliente Elementary and Middle Schools. For content, participants were given an array of positive statements pertaining to the following categories: •
their sense of belonging within the school system;
•
their knowledge and feelings about personal safety, services, and support;
•
their perspectives on the effectiveness of academic content, teaching strategies, and learning; and,
•
their reflections and expectations of the district's past, present and future.
Thirty-three (33) statements (Items #9-41) of the survey are presented on a five-point scale, ranging from Strongly Disagree to Strongly Agree. Responses were consistently spread across the scale but a solid majority was skewed in a positive direction, that is, leaning toward the Agree and Strongly Agree response options. As depicted in the pie chart on the left, these two options (Agree in purple, the largest slice, and Strongly Agree in Turquoise) were frequently a sizable majority over the other three options.

B. A SENSE OF BELONGING The first scale section of the survey is referred to as "A Sense of Belonging." Participants were asked to agree or disagree with eight statement (listed as Items 9 to 16) related to their sense of community, comfort, and mutual values and respect. Figure 1.
