CO2 flow assurance? • "Ensuring successful and economical flow of CO2 stream from source to storage" • Same multi-disciplinary set of tools as for hydrocarbons. Main difference is thermodynamic behaviour of CO2: − Critical point "in the middle" of operating window − Triple point can be reached during depressurization − Heavy, non-combustable and asphyxiating − Hydrate formation − Corrosion with water, O2 and/or NOx − Strong Joule-Thomson effect • From operating experience, some reservoir characterization can be done with flow assurance tools
