STUDY OF IRRIGATION SYSTEM (SURFACE, SUBSURFACE, KUZEHEE, T-TAPE, DRIP AND BUBBLER) ON PISTACHIO SEEDLING A. Mohammadi Mohammad Abadi, S.J. Hosseinifard and N. Sedaghati Scientific Board Members of Iran's Pistachio Research Institute Rafsanjan, Iran, P.O.Box:77175.435 Email: [email protected] Abstract Pistachio orchards mostly irrigate by surface irrigation. In this research, compare surface irrigation system of pistachio with drip, bubbler, subsurface, T-Tape and kuzehee irrigation systems was investigated on pistachio (Pistacia vera L.) rootstocks. In order to achieve the mentioned objectives the research was carried out station no. 2 of pistachio research institute (IPRI) in Rafsanjan in 2003. A split-plot design was used for 4 years and 3 replications with six irrigation systems including surface irrigation, drip irrigation, bubbler irrigation, subsurface irrigation, T-Tape irrigation and clay pot (kuzehee) irrigation as a main plots, and three levels of water application including 10, 20 and 30% of pan evaporation class A (respectively 685, 1370 and 2055 m3 ha-1- year application water), as sub plot. Seedling heights, number of leaves, diameter of seedling, and total leaf area per seedling were measured. Result indicated that clay pot (kuzehee) irrigation was better than other irrigation systems. In the most measured factor, micro irrigation systems (exept TTape) were better than surface irrigation. The results of mean salinity of soil saturation extracts (ECe) in the end of experiment showed, kuzehee irrigation with 685 m3 ha-1- year application water rate ECe increased until four times of control treatment, but other irrigation systems with 685 m3 ha-1- year application water rate ECe increased until two to three times of control treatment, however with application water rate of 2055 m3 ha-1- year ECe decreased significantly espatially in bubbler and drip irrigation.
