Summit Point MARRS 101 Where to find things  Washington DC Region (www.wdcr-scca.org) – Region Directory for contacts. Links to event registration are on the Events Calendar.  MSR (https://www.motorsportreg.com/) – online registration  SCCA (www.scca.com) – rules: GCR, Fastrack, and Portable Drivers Advisor  Elected driver representatives play an important role in organizing our events. Find yours via the Region Directory page. Get on his/her mailing list.

Registration  Online preferred; opens about one month before each race. Follow the link from the Region website. There is an extra charge for a paper entry.  Save $30 additional entry fee by registering before midnight Monday prior to the race. Credit cards are not charged until the event. You MUST cancel if you will not attend; no shows without cancellation may result in a fee.  Minors (under 18) must have a waiver signed by parent or guardian.  At track registration hours posted in the supps.  Present novice, probation, and other sanctioning body licenses at Registration. Collect novice and probation licenses from the Chief Steward at the tower at the end of the weekend.

Paddock  The paddock opens Thursday evening for most events. Check the supps for opening times.  We have allocated some paddock space to class corrals, which are reserved. Contact your driver rep to reserve a space in your class corral. You get a guaranteed spot in exchange for accepting a limited footprint. On the Region website, click Club Racing/Resources/for a Paddock Map.  The balance of the paddock is unreserved, first-come/first-served.  Some spaces have electricity available. Ask at the main gate for details and cost.  Where things are: There are self-serve gas pumps (credit card only) beside the Grid. Also beside the grid are air, water, fluid dumping, and a flat pad.  OG Racing no longer has a store at Summit Point. Plan ahead for all your needs (including transponder rentals). Transponders can still be rented from the OG Racing Store in Sterling, VA. There are auto parts stores in Charles Town and Winchester. Again, plan ahead!  Tire vendors often at the track include Appalachian Tire (Hoosier) (865) 681-6622 and Competition Tire East (Goodyear) (610) 375-6191. Tech  The Region holds several annual tech days during February and March at local prep shops. Check the Region website for times and places.  Event tech: Bring your logbook and tech sheet if your car has its annual inspection and has no outstanding issues. There is often Express Tech available at Registration. Qualifying  Driver reps set the rules for assigning grid order. Check the list at Registration. The purpose is to remove the incentive to pre-grid. Summit Point MARRS 101

Races  On Saturday, group 1 usually races before lunch.  The Saturday afternoon race grids will be set by Saturday morning qualifying. Sunday's race grids will be set by the fastest lap from either Saturday session.

Sound  We take sound readings on the front straight, drivers left. Sound posts readings at the Tech shed.  We try to warn drivers about sound violations, but may not be able to. This is not protestable.  Third over-sound ends your session (loss of times or race penalty).

Emergencies  We do hot pulls at Summit. Be aware that emergency vehicles may be on track. Watch for the White Flag at corner stations.  Black Flag All: Proceed carefully to pits. The track may be partly blocked. Passing allowed, but you gain nothing.  Full Course Yellow (Safety Car): Close up quickly and safely with the car in front to form a single file pack behind the Safety Car. Racing resumes through the field when Start shows the Green and flag stations drop the Yellow.  Red: Stop safely at the side of the track in sight of a flag station. Wait for instructions, usually a Black Flag All.  Restart: You can’t work on your car during race stoppage. Grid will explain restart procedure. Restart order is the on-track order for the last completely scored lap.

Results/Trophies  See your driver rep for information on collecting trophies after race results go final.  Results are on the Region website, the Northeast Division website (www.NEDiv.com), and mylaps.  We post MARRS points on the Region website.

Impound  Top 3 in class unless otherwise indicated by pit sign or directed by Pit Tech. You must go to impound even if you are the only car in class.  The Saturday drivers meetings are mandatory. Park at your paddock and come directly to classroom unless Pit Tech sends you to impound.

Questions? Ask the Chief Steward. He/she can answer your question, solve your problem, or point you to the person who can. Any event official can contact the Chief Steward for you.
