Cordially invite you to a Stakeholder Briefing on the Release of
Sustainable Energy in America 2013 Factbook Energy Efficiency + Renewable Energy + Natural Gas = Growth Sectors of the US Energy Economy Event Details Date: Thursday, January 31, 2013 Time: 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm EST, Lunch will be provided Location: Offices of Bloomberg New Energy Finance, 1101 K Street, NW, Washington, DC, 5th Floor To register: http://conta.cc/RSQJIi Background: A revolution is transforming how Americans produce, consume and even think about energy. Today’s energy mix in the United States is radically different from that of a generation ago. The Factbook provides up‐to‐date, accurate market intelligence about the broad range of industries — energy efficiency, renewable energy and natural gas — that are contributing to the country's shift towards cleaner energy production and more efficient energy usage. Highlights from the Factbook for 2012 include: • Renewable energy installations hit an all‐time record with at least 17 GW of new nameplate capacity added. • In April, electricity generation from natural gas equaled that from coal for the first time in US history. • Policies and approaches for financing energy efficiency continued to make market headway; energy intensity for US commercial buildings has now dropped by more than 40% since 1980 and investments in smart grid topped $4 billion. • Carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions from the energy sector were on pace to sink to their lowest level since 1994. This unique report on the broad scope of clean energy is quantitative and objective and fills important gaps in existing data. It is designed to be the go‐to resource for the state of these clean energy industries. You are invited to hear more about the Factbook’s findings and the latest industry trends from: • Ethan Zindler, Head of Policy Analysis, Bloomberg New Energy Finance; • Lisa Jacobson, President, Business Council for Sustainable Energy; • Paula Gant, Senior Vice President, American Gas Association; • Rob Gramlich, Interim CEO, American Wind Energy Association; • Frank Wolak, Vice President, FuelCell Energy; • Jordan Doria, Manager, Stakeholder Engagement, Ingersoll Rand; and • Joe Allen, Director, Government Relations, Solar Turbines. Please see 2nd page for additional details.
The release of the Factbook celebrates the Council’s 20th anniversary. Since 1992, the Council has been a leading industry voice advocating for policies at the state, national and international levels that increase the use of commercially‐available clean energy technologies, products and services.
