Pacific Bridge program

Pacific Bridge aims to support and assist students from North America studying at Sydney Medical School 1. Rotations in US/Canada: We recognise that students wishing to return to Canada and US wish to spend some time in medical schools/hospitals in North America i) approved students can undertake one 8 week core rotation in medicine or community in US/Canada in Stage 3 ii) we can assist students in organising elective terms (8weeks) and PrInt (4 weeks) in a US/Canadian school or hospital 2. USMLE “boot camp” – in conjunction with Johns Hopkins Medicine, 70 places, run in January. 3. Similar programs under investigation for other international students (Canada, Asia)

Internships

Key points: 1. We cannot guarantee students an internship. 2. Last year, the process was long and complicated but we ended up with unfilled intern places. 3. It is on the Government agenda: the Health Minister has recently announced additional places in country areas.
