4
Background of the quality assurance system at UNISEL Quality assurance (QA) refers to a range of review procedures designed to safeguard academic standards and promote learning opportunities for students of acceptable quality. UNISEL ensures its educational provision operates with appropriate academic standards and acceptable quality learning opportunities for students. The quality assurance procedures operate according to the guidance of Malaysian Qualification Agency (MQA) and professional bodies such as Engineering Accreditation Council Malaysia (EAC).
5
The core aspects of the student learning experience are: • The curriculum – structure, aims, intended learning outcomes and types of assessment • The promotion and support of effective learning – such as provision of student support services, library and IT facilities, and relevant training and development activities for staff and students
6
UNISEL IQA mechanism of evaluation includes: 1.
An institutional review of UNISEL was carried out in April 2010 by a panel of auditors representing the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA), in accordance with the MQA Code of Practice for Institutional Audit (COPIA) guidelines.
2.
UNISEL has been rated with Tier-4 (Very Good) in SETARA ’09 and SETARA ‘11. The MQA Rating System for IHL was implemented by using a rating mechanism to measure the performance of undergraduate teaching and learning in universities and university colleges in Malaysia. UNISEL has also been rated with Tier-4 (Very Good) in D-SETARA ‘11 (Engineering).
3.
Self Assessment is conducted in accordance with MQA-02 Part D Programme Self Review Report. The Report is a narrative of the findings of the internal quality audit conducted by the department in application for Full Accreditation of a programme.
4.
The exercise of Internal Audit to ensure that the quality management system implemented effectively, updated and meet the University Quality Policy and objectives.
