TAFSEER OF SURAH QAF (July 11th class) َ ۡ ) َو٦) ُوج َ ۡ َ" ۡ !َ َ َ ۡ َ ٰـ#ُ َ%&ۡ َ' ٓ ِء+َ - ﱠ. ٱ0َ.ِ ُٓو ْا إ5ُ6 َ7 ۡ#َ8َ'ََ ٰـ َ أA َۡدC>َ ض َ ۡرFٱ ِ َ َر َوL 'ِ َ ۡ َM.ۡ ََوأ َ Jٲ ٍ ۟ ۟ 5ُ' =>ِ َ َ. >َ ﱠ ﱠ ٰـ َ َو7 َ َو َزGۡ َHAۢ َ ۟ َوأ0 ۡ Q ٍ ۟ ِ > ﱡCٍ ۟ Hَۡ U P ﱢVُ .ِ ٰى5َ "ۡ ةً َو ِذ5َ [ ٍ ۟ ﱠ ٰـaَ c َ ِِۦGۡ َHAۢ َ dَ' "ً 5َ َ ٰـH> ٓ ِء َ> ٓ ۟ ًء ﱡ+َ - ﱠ.ٱ ِ Hَۡ \ ﱠS_َ ` َو ٍ۟ ِ َ ج ِ ۭ۟ ز َۡوPَ ِ>= ُ" ﱢL 'ِ (٧) َ=>ِ َ .^َ ﱠA( َو٨) S ۟ ۡ ۡ ۟ ۡ ﱠ َ َ .` ١٠) Cٌ h ٍ َ ٰـMJِ َ Pَ k ﱠ.( َوٱ٩) Cِ [ ِ ﱠA iٌ 8ط ِ eَ .(ٱ Have they not looked at the heaven above them, how We have made it and adorned it, and there are no rifts in it? (6) And the earth! We have spread it out, and set thereon mountains standing firm, and have produced therein every kind of lovely growth (plants). (7) An insight and a Reminder for every slave who turns to Allâh in repentance (i.e. the one who believes in the Oneness of Allâh and performs deeds of His obedience, and always begs His pardon). (8) And We send down blessed water (rain) from the sky, then We produce therewith gardens and grain (every kind of harvests) that are reaped. (9) And tall date-palms, with ranged clusters; (10) Ayat 6 َ ۡ َ" ۡ !َ َ َ ۡ َ ٰـ#ُ َ%&ۡ َ' ٓ ِء+َ - ﱠ. ٱ0َ.ِ ُٓو ْا إ5ُ6 َ7 ۡ#َ8َ'َُوج أ ٍ ۟ 5ُ' =>ِ َ َ. >َ ﱠ ﱠ ٰـ َ َو7َو َز Have they not looked at the heaven above them, how We have made it and adorned it, and there are no rifts in it? What did Allah saw say about the samaa’? khaifa? How We structured it! Subahanallah! Here Allah subahanawatha'la is giving a description of the samaa’! It’s like a bunya (building) Subahanallah! So we see at the universe and how many millions of galaxies exist in a universe right! Subahanallah! And when you look at one galaxy and see how many stars and planets are there? Million planets!!!!!!! Subahanallah! How amazing is this! Subahanallah! Doesn’t this leave us in awe! How perfect Allah subahanawatha'la is!!! Even when we look at the recording device for this lecture Subahanallah how did the person think and create it right? Isn’t that what we wonder? So imagine how Allah subahanawatha'la created the samaa’! So when we look at the planets and every single thing in the universe it is so beautiful! And perfect! The sunrise the sunset! All indications of Allah's greatness!!! So 2 indications of the sky: it’s like a buliyaan (structure) and it is beautiful! Subahanallah! Which of Allah's name can you see here? Al Khaaliq and AL Qaadir and Al Jameel! Subahanallah! What else is in that ayat?
How perfect is the samaa’! How perfect it is and there are no defects in it! But nowadays we find the humans always trying to find faults in the samaa’! Subahanallah! LOOK AT SURAH MULK! How many times does Allah subahanawatha'la tell us to look again and again and try to find the faults! And we will find NONE! There are no rifts or faults or holes in the universe! No matter how much we try to find it! So when we see all this description we find the name: Al Subbooh! Subahanallah! We are agreeing that Allah subahanawatha'la is so perfect and you are freeing Allah subahanawatha'la from ALL FAULTS! Subahanallah! Farjh means there is a space or opening…like a hole... Ayat 7 َ َ ۡرF َو ۡٱQٍ ۟ ِ َ ج ِ َ َر َوL ِ' َ ۡ َM.ۡ ََ ٰـ َ َوأA َۡدC>َ ض َL 'ِ َ Gۡ َHAۢ َ َوأ0َ Jٲ ِ ۭ ز َۡوPِ>= ُ" ﱢ And the earth! We have spread it out, and set thereon mountains standing firm, and have produced therein every kind of lovely growth (plants). Now we will see the Ardhl! How much Allah subahanawatha'la has spread the earth to make it easy for humans to live on the earth! Subahanallah! Now we find humans trying to find places other than earth to live on like the moon or Jupiter or whatever! But Allah subahanawatha'la is telling us not to waste our time trying to find places to live in whereas we have the earth which is so perfectly made for us right! Subahanallah! This earth was made easy for us to live! What does it mean? To throw something! َ ۡ َM.ۡ َأ So Allah subahanawatha'la is telling that to prevent the earth from getting thrown about He set 0 ِ َر َو َ Jٲ Rawaasih! Which is like an anchor to hold the earth down! Subahanallah! So what are the anchors? Subahanallah! Allah subahanawatha'la he wants you to see the picture! Like as if the earth resembles a ship that is so huge and everything on the earth the humans and creatures all are on it
and this ship moves around which is not stable! And how did Allah subahanawatha'la control the movement of the earth around the sun? With the anchor! And what are the anchors? The mountains!! The jibaal! Subahanallah! Now we have these mountains which are so huge and they prevent the earthquakes (the major ones) so this means the earthquakes we have are nothing in comparison to what the mountains that hold the earth protect us from! Subahanallah! And all of this is possible because of Allah subahanawatha'la! Surah Nabaa’- where Allah subahanawatha'la gives another description of the mountains and earth! Surah Nabaa’ ayat 6-7 ٧) َ َل أَ ۡو\َ ۟ ًداHšِ .) َو ۡٱ٦) اCً ۟ ض ِ> َ ٰـ َ َ ۡرF ۡٱPِ ™َ šَۡ A ۡ#.َ َ(أ Have We not made the earth as a bed, (6) And the mountains as pegs? (7) Like awtaadah- pegs! Subahanallah! That the earth resembles a tent and what holds the tent together? These pegs- awtaadah which are the mountains! Subahanallah! Even the Jibaal when we look at it (in the same way of a tent) they have a big base and a narrow top! Subahanallah! Isn’t it the same as mountains! The more at the base it is double the head size! Subahanallah!!!!!! So look at all the statements of Allah az'awajal! Never can you find any human being who could give you these perfect statements except the CREATOR! Subahanallah! Everything there is a beauty in it Subahanallah! And then in the same ayat what does Allah subahanawatha'la tell us? About how perfect is everything on the earth!!!!!! Subahanallah! First Allah subahanawatha'la spoke of the samaa’ how perfect it was made for us and structured in the perfect manner and the Ardhl also was made so beautifully for us to live on with perfect mountains to hold it in place and the earth filled with every kind of lovely growth! Subahanallah! Why did Allah az'awajal give all these perfect things for us sisters? For us to worship him and aid us in our worship to him! Subahanallah! َ Gۡ َHAۢ َ َوأNabathaa which is from the wordSo from everything that Allah subahanawatha'la made to grow! Every single thing he made for us was made to grow in a lovely manner! Subahanallah! There is beauty in it! Baheej!
Q ٍ۟ ِ َ What is baheej? From the word Bahjaah- when you look at it you really appreciate its beauty and admire it! Subahanallah! Take even the flowers and roses how perfect Allah subahanawatha'la made them! Even ourselves! How Allah subahanawatha'la made us! And Allah subahanawatha'la made all the beautiful things for us- maybe like flowers even we can live without it but Allah subahanawatha'la made them so beautifully for us right! It’s pleasing for our eyes! It’s like decoration for us right! I mean take us! When we are having a dinner or something don’t we sometimes buy flowers for decoration! And we select certain flowers and all because we appreciate the beauty so much! Subahanallah! Even when we look at nature and look at the plants and how the green colour of one tree is DIFFERENT to the other! Subahanallah! If we really ponder and see even for 10 minutes of how Allah subahanawatha'la created everything! Subahanallah! Sometimes we even have flowers which have no beauty but they are smell so nice! In surah Ar Rahman- the smells were also created for us right! Subahanallah! And the prophet sallallahuala’ihiwasallam what he really loved of this life was the perfume! Subahanallah! Same with losing weight! They said not to think of the food but of what your eyes see! If your eyes appreciate the look of the food you will eat more right! Subahanallah! So which names of Allah subahanawatha'la do we find here? AL JAMEEL AND AL WADHOODH!!! Subahanallah! How Allah subahanawatha'la made this life so beautiful and perfect for us! How much of love we have for him and he has for us! To give us such amazing means to survive on! Subahanallah! So IMAGINE THE PARADISE FOR THE BELEIVERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We cannot even imagine how much more perfect and beautiful everything might be there in Jannah! Subahanallah! Though we need Allah subahanawatha'la so much and we should make ourselves closer to him we see how HE HAS MADE HIMSELF CLOSER TO US INSTEAD!!!!!!! Subahanallah! So this beauty we see will everyone be reminded and remember Allah and magnify Allah? NO! There are two types of people with regards to this:
* Those without the knowledge ignorant and don’t have the knowledge and know that these are the signs of Allah! * There are those who forget even though they know! And they need reminders of how perfect Allah subahanawatha'la is and what he has given us! Ayat 8 ۟ Hَۡ \ S ٍ ۟ ِ > ﱡCٍ ۟ Hَۡ U P ﱢVُ .ِ ٰى5َ "ۡ ةً َو ِذ5َ [ ِ An insight and a Reminder for every slave who turns to Allâh in repentance (i.e. the one who believes in the Oneness of Allâh and performs deeds of His obedience, and always begs His pardon). ٰى5َ "ۡ ۟ةً َو ِذ5َ [ ِ Hَۡ \ So that’s why Allah subahanawatha'la says: thabsirathan wa zikraa- these signs are for the ignorant ones! Subahanallah! So there are 3 things the ignorant one learns from these signs: * That Allah exists * That Allah is one * And that Allah is perfect These are the things someone who is ignorant will still definitely realize and see once they see the signs around them! This is thabseerathan! Meaning an insight for the ignorant! Subahanallah! Insight for the ignorant one! And then Allah subahanawatha'la continues with Wa Zhikran! For those who believe as a reminder for them! Reminder of Allah az'awajal and His attribute of being the creator of everything! Subahanallah! S ٍ ۟ ِ > ﱡCٍ ۟ Hَۡ U P ﱢVُ .ِ Muneeb form the word inaabah- to return! This is fir the slave who is muneeb- who all the time returns to Allah subahanawatha'la in repentance! He always comes and goes back to his lord in repentance! Always in their hearts they have that they are slaves of Allah and that they are abdin muneeb- the one who benefits from Allah's ayat!
It’s like as if the slave says- I cannot live without Allah subahanawatha'la and I need to go back to him in repentance for everything! Subahanallah! He feels like he is fakeer ilallah! He is in need of Allah subahanawatha'la in his repentance! And how does he go with repentance? With his heart! Subahanallah! His heart always comes and goes to Allah subahanawatha'la! Because we see people who work in the field of research etc……but they still are disbelievers! They are trying to reach the moon and all but still they are not accepting the signs! Even when they reached the moon and heard the adhaan they still denied it! And this is the characteristics of the disbeliever! They deny everything including the signs of Allah! Because the believers they will be sitting in their homes and see the universal signs and their heart is affected and they want to change! Subahanallah! But the disbelievers they don’t want to change and they don’t take these things as reminders hence they deny it! And what did Allah subahanawatha'la say: that they have all the knowledge of everything in this dhunya but of Allah subahanawatha'la they have NO KNOWLEDGE! And their hearts reject the truth and even their eyes and ears don’t see it! Then ayat 9 ۦcِ ِ َ Gۡ َHAۢ َdَ' "ً ۟ 5َ َ ٰـH> ٓ ِء َ> ٓ ۟ ًء ﱡ+َ - ﱠ. َ ِ>=َ ٱ.ۡ ^َ ﱠA َوCِ [ ٍ ۟ ﱠ ٰـaَ ِ eَ .ﱠ ۡٱS_َ ` َو And We send down blessed water (rain) from the sky, then We produce therewith gardens and grain (every kind of harvests) that are reaped. And Allah subahanawatha'la is saying that he sent down from the sky the maa’an mubaarkaa! The rain! It’s a BLESSED RAIN!!!!! Because there are different types of rain! Acid rain and hail storms etc….and they are not always beneficial right! So with regards to provision which is the good rain??? The blessed one! It will help the plants and won’t kill them! Subahanallah! َ Gۡ َHAۢ َ dَ' No in ayat number 7 we had Wa’anbathnaa and in this ayat number 9 Allah says Fa’anbathnaa! Subahanallah! Why did he do so? What is the difference? In ayat 7 Allah subahanawatha'la was just telling us about all the good thing she produced in our life for us to use and all and that’s why the “waaw” was used! But in this ayat9 it’s like a command! For us where Allah subahanawatha'la is telling that He commanded or made to grow the plants from the water!
Subahanallah! We think oh I made the plant to grow or that it’s the sunlight or the seed or the soil or whatever! Sometimes we put the energy and use all the vitamins and good soil and all of that but the plant doesn’t grow! So Subahanallah who made the plant to grow????? Allah!!!!! So this is the Baraqah from Allah subahanawatha'la! Maa’an mubaarakah! Even in Dubai we find in some houses how they are growing some fruits like even oranges! And we get so amazed and ask really you have this fruit growing! And they say oh this is my land or my garden or my hard work! But really this is from Allah az'awajal! And these blessed rains produce the gardens! Cِ [ ِ eَ .ﱠ ۡٱS_َ َو The seeds that grow and are used for the cattle! Subahanallah! We eat the grains and it’s for the cattle also to eat so we can eat the cattle! Because they are taking of the reaping of the harvest for us and for our cattle! Subahanallah! AYAT 10 َ َ ﱠ. ` Cٌ h ٍ ۟ َ ٰـMJِ َ Pَ kۡ ﱠ.َوٱ ِ ﱠA iٌ ۟ 8ۡ ط And tall date-palms, with ranged clusters; The date palm trees that Allah subahanawatha'la made which are tall- baasiqaath! `َ ٰـMJِ َ So this date palm which Allah subahanawatha'la made so tall how much do we benefit from it! Subahanallah! What an amazing tree it was! The prophet sallallahuala’ihiwasallam even compared the believer to the date palm tree! Subahanallah! Even the dates are so beautiful and it is a fruit by itself! And Subahanallah that fruit has so many benefits! That’s why to break your fasts you need to have the dates! With the fresh dates! Subahanallah! And even the Suhoor you need to have dates! It’s the Sunnah! Subahanallah! The dry date for the Suhoor! And they come in ranged clusters from ripe to dry to fresh to dry! Subahanallah! Then in ayat 11
