2007 – 2011 Bluebird All American with Cummins ISB-02, ISB-07 or ISB-10 engines

Condition: The operator of the vehicle may complain of intermittent cranking, a failure to crank or an engine compartment fire.

Cause:

A potential cause for the above conditions is that the starter battery cable retaining hardware may have been installed in the wrong combination. This may allow the retainer to come loose and the battery cable to fall on the radiator cooling fan, resulting in a short circuit.

Correction: Follow the manufacturers recommended diagnostic and repair procedures which include inspecting the retainer hardware assembly (the flat washer should not be below the lock washer) and replacing the battery cables when required.
