2003 – 2004 Ford Expedition and 2003 – 2004 Lincoln Navigator

Condition: Some of the above vehicles may experience some or all of the following conditions: - Intermittent vehicle performance issues - Intermittent illumination of the charge warning light. - Diagnostic codes P0620 and or P0320 stored in the memory of the vehicles PCM. Cause: These conditions could be caused either by chafing or corrosion of the wiring harness (reference 14305) or communication between the PCM and the charging system. Correction: On vehicles built prior to April 2nd, 2004 the PCM will need to be reprogrammed and the wiring harness replaced with the appropriate harness indicated in the table below. WARNING BEFORE APPLYING DIELECTRIC GREASE VERIFY IF THE HARNESS ALREADY HAS GREASE. Harnesses with the engineering identification 2L1T-AL, 2L7T-AL, 4L1T-AC or 4L7T-AC or with higher suffixes are already pre-greased and additional grease could damage the connectors. On vehicles built from March 2, 2004 to June 14, 2004 will need the PCM reprogrammed and the dielectric grease applied as noted above. On vehicles built from June 15, 2004 to July 19, 2004 the PCM will require reprogramming. DO NOT REPLACE THE ATERNATOR UNLESS IT IS DIAGNOSED AS FAULTY.
