2009 Mazda 6

Condition:

The operator of the vehicle may complain that after starting the vehicle the engine responded poorly. This may be due to the on board systems forcing the system into “limp” mode. “Limp” mode limits the throttle when the system perceives conditions it considers hazardous to protect the occupants of the vehicle. The technician may observe one or more of the following diagnostic codes retained in the system: P0140 P0571 P0600 P2101

Cause:

A potential cause for the above conditions is a low battery. When the battery voltage is significantly low the system will go into the limp mode. When the voltage is low the main and sub-power train control modules shut off and even after the system voltage returns to normal the system stays in the limp more unless both the main and sub-powertrain control modules are restored.

Correction: Follow the manufacturer’s recommended procedures for restoring the main and sub-powetrain control modules.
