1.3 APPROVED MATERIALS

A. Drawing and general provisions of Contract including General and Supplementary Conditions and Division 1 Specification Sections, apply to this Section as if included herein.

A. Approved materials for application within this scope shall

1.2 DESCRIPTION OF WORK A. Preparation of Concrete Substrate 1. All preparation of concrete substrate shall be in accordance with ASTM D-4259 (sec. 6, Mechanical Abrading, sec. 8, Abrasive Blast) and/or ASTM D-4260 (Chemical Preparation). 2. Preparation of concrete substrate and pre-installation guidelines shall be in accordance with Manufacturer’s published instructions.

B. Application of ESD Polymeric Flooring Surface 1. Application of ESD Polymer Coating shall be in accordance with Manufacturer’s published instruction. Only StaticSmart™ certified, trained applicators are approved.

C. Coating Schedule for StaticSmart™ ESD Quartz 9000 1. Prepare concrete by means of portable steel shot blasting machine and/or hand abrasive grinders. Remove all dust, debris, oil and other contaminants. 2. Apply ESD Primer at 6-8 mils thickness (wft) thickness. (approx. 200 sf per gallon) then 5-6 hours cure time! 3. Install grounding strips at columns or grounding points as per owner’s specification.

Possess the following minimum characteristics. 1. General Properties: Proposed materials shall be VOC compliant with any governmental agency with jurisdiction over the application site or transportation area. The material shall be essentially free of volatile organic content and 100% solids in nature. The proposed material shall be essentially low odor.

2. Physical Properties Abrasion Resistance (Taber C-10 Wheel 1000 gm, 1000 cycles), ASTM D-1044: 0.03 gm max wt. loss Bond Strength, Elcometer: 400 + psi, 100% concrete failure Compressive Strength, ASTM C-579: 12,000 psi (resin binder alone), ASTM D-695: 15,300 psi Flexural Modulus of Elasticity, ASTM C-580: 500,000 psi Flexural Strength, ASTM C-580: 3,150, psi, 7 days (resin binder alone), ASTM D-780: 9,400, psi, 7 days Hardness, ASTM D-2240: 71 @ 100 Kg load, 1/4” ball Mho Scale, 85-80 Shore D Tensile Strength, ASTM C-307: 2,000 psi, 7 days (resin binder alone), ASTM D-638: 9,100 psi, 7 days Impact, Gardner Impact:16-18 inch - lbs

4. Apply ESD Quartz 9000 basecoat at 12-14 mils thickness (125 sf per gallon), backroll to distribute uniformly and then broadcast the ESD Quartz 9000 Aggregate to rejection. ESD Quartz 9000 Aggregate is a carefully blended mix containing hardened ESD particles. Color is multi-fleck with dimensional texture. -then 8-10 hours cure - then sweep up excess ESD Quartz aggregate!

Indentation, MIL-D-3134: No indentation

5. Apply ESD Quartz 9000 Sealer (Top Coat) for low surface texture. Total coverage 60-70 square feet per gallon applied in two coats. This requires two coats - one 16-20 mil coat and one 8-10 mil finish coat. -8 hours cure between coats and then 24 hour cure before foot traffic ideally 48 before fork lift traffic.

3. Electrical Properties

Thermal Coefficient of expansion, ASTM D-696: 3.4xl0-5 in/in/0C Flammability, ASTM D-635: Self extinguishing Water Absorption, ASTM C-413: 0.1% maximum

Resistance Test, ESD 7.1: 1.OxlO9 max to 5xl04 min ohms @100 vdc Body Voltage Generation, ESD S7.1: 650 F) area. All container labels shall remain intact, clean and legible. Applicator shall break down entire shipment of material and permanently record all Manufacturers' lot/date code numbers. D. Testing: Finished coating shall be tested for proper adhesion by means of portable adhesion tester per ASTM D-4541-85. Test results shall be reported to the Engineer. Minimum adhesion values are defined by the Manufacturer. Thickness measurements shall be reported to the engineer. Thickness measurements shall be determined by arithmetic average. Test locations shall be repaired in such a manner as to be inconspicuous. Electrical properties testing: Electrostatic dissipation characteristics shall be confirmed by the manufacturer or by an independent testing agency qualified to perform the required testing. Testing shall be tested based on the ESD S 7.1 Test methodology. Body charge generation shall be determined by means of an adaptation of the procedure specified by the American Association of Textile & Colorists (AATCC), Committee RA32, AATCC 134-1979, Method for measuring maximum body voltage resulting from walking using conductive footwear. E. Visual inspection: After completion of coating work, the engineer shall inspect the finished work. Note shall be made by the Engineer of defects and/or deficiencies and the application shall be notified of corrective actions required.
