STEPS TO RENEWING YOUR TEXAS REAL ESTATE LICENSE Step 1: Know Your Renewal Filing Deadline While you’re closing deals left and right, you’ll get a renewal notice via email from the Texas Real Estate Commission (TREC), 90 days before you must renew your license. Your sponsoring broker will also receive your renewal notice. TREC sends the notice to the email addresses they have on file for you and your broker. You can get started on your CE requirement whenever you want before getting the renewal notice. If you haven’t gotten an email from TREC, TREC might have an incorrect or outdated email on file for you. Contact TREC about this issue! If you are on an “inactive” status, the notice will only be sent to you (the agent). We recommend taking care of your CE requirement as soon as possible, to take into account the time it takes for TREC to process your renewal and the length of time it takes to do each course. According to TREC regulations, a provider is allowed 10 full business days to report your CE credit to the Commission. Here at AceableAgent, we actually report your course credit within 24 hours. We suggest completing your CE requirement at the earliest opportunity. Make sure to allow for at least 10 business days before your renewal deadline since TREC needs that time to process your renewal online. Back to top
Step 2: Complete Your Continuing Ed Requirements The state of Texas requires agents to take 18 hours worth of continuing education after being licensed for 2 years. If you’re in your second year, you want to get this done by the end of your second year of licensure. This is something you’ll need to do every year from now on if you want to renew your real estate license. That’s where AceableAgent comes in– to make this requirement easier and feel like less of a chore, while also teaching you in the most effective ways we can. For agents, we currently offer the following courses in our package: Legal Update I: Laws, Rules, and Forms (4 hours) Legal Update II: Agency, Ethics, and Hot Topics (4 hours) Close Ups and Closings (aka Video Marketing – 2 hours) Lose the Paperweight (aka Paperless Transactions – 3 hours) Cover Your Assets: Managing Personal and Professional Risks (aka Risk Management – 5 hours) You can access your courses from your desktop, laptop, phone, and tablet, and you can log on and off whenever you want. While there are timers in the course, they’re set at a pace much faster than the speed that most people read. You won’t even notice them! Your CE package does not expire, but of course, you’ll want to finish by your renewal deadline. At the end of each course in your package, you’ll take a final exam. You have two attempts to pass. After the first fail, you can retake your exam immediately. If you fail a second time, unfortunately this means you have retake that

CE course again, but you won’t have to pay for the course again. Back to top
Step 3: Receive Credit For Your Continuing Ed Courses As soon as you’ve passed the final exam for a course in your CE package, AceableAgent automatically reports your course credit to TREC’s website electronically within 24 hours of completion. We will email you a confirmation that we have reported your course credit as soon as your credit is reported to TREC. You can check on your credits on TREC’s website. Back to top
Step 4: Renew Your Real Estate License on TREC’s Website After you have completed all 18 hours of continuing education and passed all course final exams, you’ll be able to renew your real estate license on TREC’s website. Your license is not renewed unless you do BOTH of those actions. TREC can take up to 10 business days to process your license renewal application. You’ll want to take that time into account or your license might expire before TREC processes your renewal. If TREC’s website does not show that your renewal has been processed by the day your license expires, you must pay TREC a $200 CE deferral fee or renew as an inactive agent. Paying the $200 CE deferral fee gives you an additional 60 days to take care of this business. If you still haven’t finished CE after 60 days, you are considered inactive. One more thing: if you have not submitted fingerprints to TREC in a previous renewal or application, you must be fingerprinted for a background check. This could prolong the processing time for your renewal. You can read about that process on TREC’s website. If you’re unsure if you need to do this, contact TREC. Back to top
ACEABLE CASE STUDIES – INTERACTIVITY REQUIREMENT Recently, TREC began requiring all continuing education course providers to include an “interactivity” requirement. Aceable presents this to you in the form of a case study in Legal I and Legal II. There will be four case studies in each of those courses. When you get to the case study, you’ll be asked a question based on the case study. Type your answer and submit! Your answer will be sent to our instructor of record, Judy McKee. You’ll also be shown Judy’s answer as well as five random student answers to see how others answer the question. Judy will review your answer. If your answer isn’t relevant to the case study at all or it is incorrect, she’ll contact you

personally. At that point, you’ll give her a different answer! If she doesn’t contact you, you’re in the clear. Keep on going! Back to top
TEXAS REAL ESTATE CONTINUING EDUCATION FINAL EXAMS At the end of each course is a final exam, that varies in length, to test your knowledge. The questions will be all multiple-choice questions. For your tests, there are 4 questions per credit hour. For example, a four hour course would have 16 questions. You must score at least 70% or better in order to pass and go on to the next course in your package. The final exams are not timed. You have two attempts to pass the final exam for each course in your package. If you fail the final assessment for a particular course, you have one more attempt left to pass. You can start your second attempt immediately after your first attempt. If you fail twice, you will be restarted to the beginning of that course. You’ll need to go through the course again before you’ll be able to take your test again. Back to top
TEXAS REAL ESTATE CONTINUING EDUCATION IDENTITY SECURITY QUESTIONS The state of Texas requires that AceableAgent verify the identity of the person taking the course (you) at various points throughout the course. This system is made to ensure that the person who signed up for the course is actually the one taking it. If you fail to verify your identity, the state of Texas requires us to lock you out of your account. Unfortunately, this is a state requirement we have to follow. However, you can contact us here and we’d be happy to unlock your account after we do some additional verification. We’ll work with you to make sure you can continue your course ASAP! Back to top
