Thailand Global Health Strategic Framework
2016-2020
Cabinet Public Health & Foreign Affairs Ministers
Background Globalization has led to rapid changes in global and regional health problems over the past three decades. Some going beyond the health sector, the ever-changing evolution of the health mechanisms and structure, involving a large number of organizations, the presence of global and regional health agendas, and international competition using health as a tool. Under this context, Thailand needs to adopt a proactive strategy with a clear vision and stance on global health, at the same time improving existing mechanisms designed to promote the health of the public and to create health security for the country, as they will help move Thai economy and society further and promote regional and globaldevelopment efforts. A systematic approach will lead to better international relations and promote Thailand’s role and competitiveness in international forums and develop immunity to possible adverse effects of globalization. This is also part of the attempts to promote foreign policy, health policy and national image.
