Solution: two powerful 2.0 l TDI engines*, three drive concepts, two gearbox alternatives and two types of spring elements. The Amarok doesn’t just have a lot of character from the outside, there is plenty of personality under the engine compartment lid, too: you have the choice of a particularly fuelefficient 2.0 l TDI diesel with 90 kW* and the powerful 2.0 l BiTDI engine with 132 kW* and up to 420 Nm – each equipped with common rail technology for greater running smoothness and more efficiency. Both versions have a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard, the 132 kW engine* can be combined with an innovative 8-speed automatic gearbox upon demand. Two 4MOTION all-wheel drive systems are available as an alternative to the standard rear-wheel drive: permanent all-wheel drive combines the advantages of improved driving dynamics on paved roads with excellent off-road capabilities. And selectable 4MOTION all-wheel drive takes you even further: thanks to an additional gear reduction level activated at the push of a button, it allows the Amarok to master even the toughest terrain with ease. In addition to the drive combinations, you can choose between two types of spring elements to optimally align the Amarok with your needs. Instead of the standard leaf springs, which are designed to provide maximum driving comfort and dynamics, a heavy duty version is available to significantly increase the payload of your vehicle.

Solution: the Amarok with BlueMotion Technology.

The Amarok with BlueMotion Technology unites what has so far been regarded as mutually exclusive: the off-road qualities of a pickup and the low fuel-consumption of a passenger car. Compared to an Amarok model without BlueMotion Technology, this vehicle can save up to 0.5 litres of fuel per 100 km, which keeps the emission of harmful substances to a minimum and reduces damage to the environment. In addition to the start/stop system, the innovative technology package offers regenerative braking (recuperation) and tyres with optimised rolling resistance. It can be combined with the 90 kW and the 132 kW engine*; the latter can be equipped with either a 6-speed manual gearbox or an 8-speed automatic gearbox. In both cases, the highest gear has an especially long transmission ratio, which lowers the engine revs and therefore the fuel consumption. Thus, the 90 kW* Amarok with BlueMotion Technology has an average fuel consumption of just 6.8 l per 100 km, which corresponds to combined CO2 emissions of 179 per kilometre.

The Amarok SingleCab offers ample space for your freight: its 3.57 m² load platform can handle a payload of up to 1,245 kg. A rigid ladder frame and extremely resilient heavy duty leaf springs offer a high level of stability, even with heavy loads and when driving off the beaten track. For even more pulling power, the standard rear-wheel drive can be replaced with selectable 4MOTION all-wheel drive as an option. But the Amarok SingleCab has been built for heavy work assignments in other aspects, too: the front bumper, the handles and the door mirror housings are made of black grained, hard-wearing plastic and the footwell in the cab is fitted with an easy-to-clean robust floor. Not only does the Amarok SingleCab have the broadest load platform in its class – like all Amarok models – but it is also the only one to offer space for further work tools behind its height-adjustable folding seats.

Even the toughest challenges are easy assignments for the Amarok DoubleCab: it has been designed to consistently provide high resilience and functionality – from the broadest load area in its category to the standard Electronic Stabilisation Programme, which automatically adjusts to the load conditions, to the comfortable seats in durable “Spacer” Anthracite cloth. When you’re on the road, the “RCD 210” radio system with an MP3-compatible CD-player is sure to put all passengers in a great mood. The Amarok DoubleCab offers that little bit extra at all times – particularly in terms of its passenger compartment space. Look forward to generously laid out leg and head room, which remains unequalled in this category. And your tools and small objects have also been taken into consideration: lots of practical storage trays provide ample space to store everything in an orderly manner. The Amarok DoubleCab is equipped with a black grained rear bumper as standard. This feature may also be deselected upon demand, in which case the tailboard can be completely folded down at a 180° angle for increased ease of loading.
