The Bath MBA Project

University of Bath School of Management

What is the Bath MBA Final Project? The project is the culmination of the one-year full-time MBA programme at Bath, and forms a significant part of the students’ qualification. Students are required to apply their skills and knowledge of the latest theory and methods studied during the course, to real-life situations, in real organisations. “ Two new markets were identified for Makerble. It was helpful to have an outside perspective looking in on us and thinking about a segment of our target audience which we had not considered focusing on. ” Matt Kemble CEO, Makerble “ Working closely with the MBA student, I was able to identify key issues, relevant contacts and advice on research direction which as a result delivered a challenging but realistic view of our organisation from an objective standpoint. ” Michael Hedges CBE QPM LLB District 1200 Membership Chairman, Rotary International

What are the benefits to my organisation? • tangible results, typically a project report and presentation, within a short timescale • balanced input drawn from the latest thinking, theory and practice • individuals working for you who have a highly international perspective and recent learning from leading academics and practitioners • the opportunity to observe potential future recruits How does the scheme work and what is the time scale? Our students welcome the opportunity to work with a wide range of potential project sponsors. Each year in January we invite organisations to make an ‘expression of interest’ in providing a project opportunity to our MBA students. In February we will invite interested organisations to join us at an informal evening event, where you can meet our students

and explore together, potential ideas for project work. There is no commitment on your part at this stage. It is a chance to identify a project of mutual interest and benefit. Students are available to work on a project with you between June and September for 10-12 weeks. What is a ‘typical’ MBA student? Our students are a diverse group with an average age of 33, an average of 7 years experience and from over 21 nationalities. Their sector backgrounds include: Finance, Pharmaceuticals, Manufacturing, Engineering, Not-For-Profit and Telecommunications. They were a great asset and we were very pleased with the enthusiasm and commitment to the project. We are happy to say that some of the recommendations are already being implemented. ” Lora Mihova Business Strategy and Planning, Telefónica UK Ltd
