Safety. Crafter’s comprehensive safety system is nothing short of class leading. ESP, ABS, TCS and EDL are all standard, minimising the impact of poor road conditions or bad weather. It’s intuitive safety too. For example, the ESP adjusts automatically to your load to make sure of optimal handling and the in-built trailer stabilisation technology ensures additional loads are handled efficiently and safely. Apart from the intelligent electronic safety items, you can equip the cab with up to six airbags – front, side and curtain. Even the build quality adds to the safety equation. The high body stiffness that characterises Crafter makes it more rigid – more assured in performance terms. Then there are extra little touches that complete the safety picture. Like the optional audible reversing warning signal, optional rain sensor and automatic driving light control, optional park distance control at front and rear.
Traction Control System (TCS). For high-torque engines the traction control system offers greater comfort and safety, particularly on smooth or slippery surfaces. The system also facilitates smooth take off and acceleration over the entire engine speed range without wheelspin or fishtailing. Emergency stop signal. In the case of an emergency stop the brake lights start to flicker as of 50km/h. When the vehicle comes to a standstill the hazard lights are activated – they are then switched off at a speed of 10km/h when the journey is resumed.

Acoustic reversing warning system. When reverse gear is engaged, an audible signal is triggered to warn pedestrians. As an option the reversing warning can be de-activated manually.

Paint colours. The bodywork is galvanised first to give your Volkswagen optimum protection against mechanical and chemical influences. Only then is the paint applied in several layers and left to harden. The result is a scratch-resistant, hard finish for the top coat.
