August’s Volunteer Of the month... Imogene King

Imogene thinks R.C.A.C. is a “great place to go to get out of the house and socialize because it takes your mind off your problems.” She makes sure to help new people feel welcome and get involved. Imogene Maxim will bill Medicare B or participating especially enjoys the craft classes and taking trips health plans for those with valid coverage with other seniors. SOUP IS BACK!!! Back by popular demand is soup Tuesdays! Starting Tuesday, October 16, 2012, we will be serving soup during lunch. The cost of a bowl of soup will vary depending on the type of soup. Please RSVP on Co-pilot by noon on Friday, October 12.

Volunteer of the Month Don’t forget to vote for the ―RCAC Volunteer of the Month.‖ Each month we will recognize one volunteer who was picked by RCAC members as going above and beyond!!!

Mondays, she makes lap robes for the Golden Living nursing home in Oakmont. She makes a variety of crafts on Tuesdays that are sold to raise funds for R.C.A.C., including kitchen towels and Pittsburgh sports-themed bears. On Wednesdays, Imogene makes lap robes with the Sit ‘N Knit group for veterans at the V.A. Hospitals. Thursdays, she attends craft classes to complete projects for herself and R.C.A.C. fundraising, such as making soap, flower pots and holiday wreaths. R.C.A.C. also has monthly U.F.O. (unfinished objects) classes, during which Imogene completes projects started in other classes. The mother of four, Linda, John, Diane and Nancy, Imogene also has six grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren. Imogene values time with her family, as they all live locally. Imogene’s favorite music is the Big Band sound, especially Frank Sinatra and Perry Como. She is a five-year cancer survivor and feels “blessed that the Lord has helped me through this.” © 2012 Judy Beck, J.D.
