TALK RHYME TIME Did the children notice that some of the words in this book rhyme? Rhyming is an important skill that will help children when they are at school and learning to read and write. Explain to the children that when words rhyme they sound the same. Give them lots of examples. This is a great age for children to start experimenting with rhyming words. Sing lots of nursery rhymes together to reinforce this skill.

WHOSE IS THIS TRACK? Look carefully at the illustrations for the tracks in the snow. Give children an assortment of sticks, pop sticks etc and let them make tracks in wet sand. Add plastic animals to play dough so the children can make tracks with them. Paint the children’s feet so they can make their own tracks.
