Instructions for Those Submitting Educational Proposals for CNW Thank you again for wishing to submit a proposal for CNW13. The following list includes items you will need in order to complete the proposal submission process. 1. Submitter, coordinator, moderator, and presenter personal information including but not limited to: a. First and last name b. Credentials c. Job/position title d. Institution/organization e. Department f. Address including city, state/province, country g. Email address h. Business telephone i. Conflict of interest disclosure information 2. Proposal title – this is also the proposed title for the educational program. There is a 20 word limit on the title 3. Proposal topic area – you will have the opportunity to select from a drop down menu. The proposal must fit into one of the areas listed. 4. Program type – must choose one of three choices a. Preconference b. Focused Learning Session (formerly known as a Roundtable) c. Educational Symposium (majority of the educational sessions at CNW) 5. Organization/A.S.P.E.N. Section Affiliation – this section allows you to identify whether or not the proposal is being submitted on behalf of another group. Examples are: Canadian Nutrition Society, A.S.P.E.N. Nutrition Support Nurses Practice Section. 6. Program Description - The program description is a short paragraph (300 words or less) that

provides an overview of the program. This description may be used for in the preliminary program brochure to inform prospective attendees about the educational content of the conference. The program description is also an opportunity to “sell” the program to the CNW Program Committee members. 7. Course learning objectives 8. Target audience – A.S.P.E.N.’s educational programs target a multidisciplinary audience of nutrition support practitioners. It is assumed that any proposals submitted will also target a multidisciplinary audience. Use this section to narrow the target audience down further and relate the target audience to the identified practice gaps/rationale for the program. 9. Rationale for the program - In 200 words or less describe why the program is important. The

rationale should address the professional practice gaps that the session will meet. A professional practice gap is defined as a gap between what the professional is doing compared to what is achievable on the basis of current knowledge. Basically, what do you want participants to do that they are not currently doing? Gaps can be in knowledge, competence, performance, or patient outcomes and should be measurable. 10. Needs assessment information – this is a checkbox selection field

11. Preferred presentation date – CNW13 will take place from February 9 – 12, 2013. Preconference courses and the president’s address will occur on February 9, 2013. Other sessions will take place February 10 – 13, 2013. 12. Additional comments – free text field with a 100 word limit for you to provide any additional information about the proposal. 13. As you are creating the proposal and inviting individuals to serve as potential presenters, please communicate to the potential presenters that A.S.P.E.N. does not provide funding for travel expenses to the conference. Presenters may be eligible for an honorarium or discounted conference registration. Any available remuneration will be communicated once a proposal is accepted.
