Theta Theta News In This Issue: Anniversary Luncheon Puppy Love Mentorship Program Announcements
30th Anniversary Luncheon Event On Sunday, March 13 Theta Theta celebrated its 30th anniversary with a luncheon at Cooper’s Hawk Winery in Columbus. Guests were able to socialize, enjoy a yummy lunch, and listen to guest lecturer Nancy Sharts-Hopko speak about STTI’s Influence to Advance Global Health. The event was made possible by the Anniversary Planning Committee members Barb Duane, Doris Edwards, Cheryl Van Deusen, Sharon Parker and Elaine Haynes. They truly went above and beyond to ensure that the event was a success. We owe them a huge thank you for all of their hard work!
“Creating a global community of nurses who lead in using knowledge, scholarship, service and learning to improve the health of the world’s people.” Vision of STTI

Chapter Activities Puppy Love
Students having fun with the puppy
The week following Spring Break, the Theta Theta Chapter invited students to come and spend time with a puppy from Canine Companions for Independence (CCI) in Battelle’s 3rd floor lobby. Dozens of students came by to say hello to the puppy named Jom and Roxanne Shull, his puppy trainer from CCI. Jom is a retriever/lab mix and is beginning his service dog training. When he is fully grown, he will be given to someone with a disability as a service dog. In the meantime, he provided a welcomed service to a number of students who needed a smile and some stress reduction. For more information about Jom and the Canine Companions for Independence, go to www.cci.org.
A very loved and tired puppy
CNAP Mentorship Program In February the Theta Theta chapter launched a Mentorship Pilot Program for the first and second year CNAP students. The program was designed by senior CNAP student and Communications Chairperson for Theta Theta, Sarah Cruzan. Her goal for the program was to help students not only survive, but thrive in nursing school with the help of a fellow student mentor’s support. A total of 14 students signed up to be a part of the program which created 7 mentor-mentee pairs. It is now five weeks into the program and there has been a lot of positive feedback from both the mentors and mentees. It is very inspiring to see students stepping up and becoming role models for their fellow students. Theta Theta’s ultimate goal will be to expand this mentorship program to all Capital Nursing students in the future.
