Why I Give

to the Mission & Service of the United Church

Ronald Peden recently passed away at age 97. His service to The United Church of Canada began before church union.

In the words of the old saying, “It is better to give than to receive.” As a small child, I watched Mother and Dad put money on the offering plate. From them, I learned that giving away a portion of what you were blessed with is good. I am grateful for the abundance I have, and have always found it a pleasure to return a portion for the Mission & Service of the church • so the church might remain alive for our future generations, allowing our children to grow in faith and love • so we might continue to have the resources to help wherever the need arises, both locally and globally • and because it makes me feel good knowing I’m doing my share to assist with the ongoing work of the church, as I have for more than 90 years
