to the Mission & Service of the United Church

Our gifts for Mission & Service enable us to respond to refugees— the people of the United Church working together in the hope that, one day, all will have a safe home.

“ “

As a Christian, do I believe in Mission & Service? You can bet your life on it! Do I feel that refugees, fleeing for their lives, should be welcomed? Absolutely! Otherwise, let’s erase the Good Samaritan story and forget that “Christ has no hands but our hands to do his work today.”

Rev. Nettie Hoffman, Rosedale United Church

Out of the destruction of the 2011 Goderich tornado, Lakeshore United Church was born. Three years down the road, the congregation was ready to look beyond itself. They chose refugee sponsorship and, in a leap of faith, decided to sponsor a family of 14. I give to Mission & Service because of the willingness of the church to act. From the rubble of destruction, the church has offered new hope and a welcome!
