The Euro-Mediterranean Centre on Insular Coastal Dynamics (ICoD) is a specialised centre of the EUR-OPA Major Hazards Agreement of the Council of Europe. ICoD forms part of the Institute of Earth Systems (IES) at the University of Malta. The IES regards human resource capacity building as fundamental and works towards training specialists in various aspects of environmental science, environmental and natural resource management, integrated planning, and the rural sciences.
The European Centre on Geomorphological Hazards (CERG) is both a specialised research centre of the EUR-OPA Major Hazards Agreement of Council of Europe and a non-governmental international association (defined on the basis of the French law 1901) with active, corresponding and honorary members.

Aims and Objectives This course is part of the ICoD Project "Developing Geomorphological mapping skills and datasets in anticipation of subsequent Susceptibility, Vulnerability, Hazard and Risk Mapping" funded by the EUR-OPA Major Hazards Agreement of the Council of Europe. The course aims at providing post-graduates, PhD students and early-career scientists with knowledge on traditional and innovative methods and techniques for geomorphological mapping in coastal areas. Specific objectives of the course are: i) providing know-how on geomorphological mapping procedures; ii) providing practical skills for the recognition and mapping of landforms and processes; iii) producing a geomorphological essay map; iv) meeting and discussing with lecturers and experts in an informal setting. –
