The transforming theatres project was initiated in Urology theatres RGH in February 2011 and is ongoing. Transforming theatres is a programme for improvement; “Improving care [and] delivering quality” (NHS Wales 2010) are landmarks in the 1000 lives project.

The process has involved members of the MDT at all levels, which has been key to the success of the project. Urology theatres is a busy unit, made up of 3 theatres, one of which houses a Lithotripsy Unit and a 4 bay recovery unit.
