4. Why 4:2:1? We have used the 3 fruits (amla, baheda & harad) in the ratio of 4:2:1 in preparing our Triphala, which signifies: •

A large amount of amla (4 parts or 57%), which is full of vitamin C, the natural antioxidant, ensuring detoxification of the body and delaying ageing. Amla is highly nutritious (contains Ca, Fe, P, & fibers) and nourishes each cell of the body, including the eyes, skin and hair

The quantity of Harad is minimized to 1 part (or 14%) to make Triphala suitable for everyone, and not only for people with constipation as Harad is a digestive stimulant and stomach cleanser

5. How do the three fruits in Triphala work for the benefit of the human body? Amla, •

Highly nutritious (contains calcium, phosphorus, iron, fiber) and has a higher amount of vitamin C than any other natural source along with other active constituents (tannin, albumin, glutamic acid, ascorbic acid etc.). The antioxidants like vitamin C in amla detoxify the body and increase immunity by neutralizing disease-causing free radicals and restoring the level of antioxidant enzymes in the body Flushes out toxins and cleanses blood

Harad, •

A digestive stimulant which increases the gastric emptying time (which means complete digestion of the food and clearing out any undigested part or waste material out of the body) The laxative effect of Triphala is mainly because of harad, as it stimulates the peristalsis whereas amla and baheda due to their astringent (constructive) property help to regulate the purgative action. Therefore, Triphala is beneficial in the conditions of constipation or indigestion.

Baheda, •

Prevents microbial infection and enhances the body’s resistance against diseases of the respiratory tract and gastrointestinal (G.I.) tract

7. Why is Devang’s Triphala suitable for everybody and not only for people with constipation? The quantity of Harad is minimized to 1 part (or 14%) to make Triphala suitable for everyone, and not only for people with constipation, as Harad is a digestive stimulant and stomach cleanser. It also contains a large amount of amla (4 parts or 57%), which is full of antioxidants, ensuring detoxification of the body and delaying ageing. Amla is highly nutritious and nourishes each cell of the body, including the eyes, skin and hair. These beneficial properties make Devang’s Triphala suitable for everyone.

8. What is the significance of the powder form of Triphala? Scientific reasons behind the powder form of our medicines are: • • •

The powder form reaches the G.I. tract (digestive tract) and gets absorbed faster than tablets which usually take a long time to be absorbed into the blood stream The powder form contains no inactive or unwanted material (such as chemical binders & preservatives used in tablets/capsules) The taste of herbs has a therapeutic benefit and the action starts right after putting the powder inside your mouth (therefore do not worry about the taste of the product, it is for the sake of your own health benefit.)

We firmly believe in retaining the properties of the herbs in their natural form, and therefore we do not use the extracts of herbs. We have made all our products in powder form in order to avoid all forms of chemical binders and preservatives, which are not beneficial for human health. We understand that sometimes the powder form makes it difficult to consume the product, but the taste of herbs also has the therapeutic benefits. It is good to have a bitter medicine for a short period of time and receive its benefits than to have a medicine which you need to take lifelong and face harmful side effects.

9. How can one use Triphala as an eyewash to improve vision? Soak Triphala powder in water at night and sieve it in the morning with a fine cloth to get clear Triphala water. Triphala water can be used to wash your eyes for improved vision.

10. What are the health guidelines for a healthy metabolism? 1) Start your day with a glass of lukewarm water along with 1 teaspoon of Triphala. 2) Eat high fiber food. 3) Stay physically active and drink sufficient water. 4) Eat only 2/3 of what your appetite desires. 5) Have a few smaller meals instead of one large meal at a time. 6) Eat only after the complete digestion of the previous meal. 7) Sit in Vajrasan for 5-10 minutes just after food. 8) Walk after lunch or dinner (approximately 100 steps).
