EET Jack McKinley, a 13-year-old American schoolboy. Jack does not do too well at school and is even worse at waking up in the morning. After his mother passed away, his father devoted himself to work. Whilst on a business trip to Singapore he only sees his son on Skype. Jack is like any other ordinary teenager until his sudden collapse one day. On what seemed like a typical morning, the boy woke up and got ready for school in a rush. He noticed a white, inverted ‘v’ mark on the back of his head and before he could figure out what it is, he blacks out.

Author Peter Lerangis

A ticking time bomb WHEN Jack wakes up, he finds himself in a building called the Karai Institute. To his terror, he realises that he is trapped in the building. There are no phones or internet access, but only three other eccentric-looking kids and a group of armed guards. Worse yet, the institute is located on an island that appears not to be on the map and wild, giant creatures roam around at night. Then he faces an even bigger shock. Professor Bhegad, the scientist who runs the institute, tells Jack that he is one of the ‘Select’, a handful of gifted children who carry a special gene named ‘G7W’. The gene originates from the prince of Atlantis, the long-lost civilisation. It develops a person’s talents to the extreme, making him superhuman. But the booming power itself is a ticking time bomb. It will eventually burn out his body and kill him when he turns 14. To save his own life, Jack must locate and retrieve the seven magical Loculi of Atlantis, a set of lost relics that have not been seen for thousands of years, before they fall into evil hands. thors of the contributing au Lerangis is one of s, 39 Clues. the adventure serie
