TUITION FEE DEFERRAL

BCIT policy requires a newly accepted full-time student to pay tuition fees in full 60 days before the first day of classes. A student accepted less than 60 days before the first day of classes is required to pay tuition fees in full upon acceptance. Part-time students must pay in full upon registration. A tuition fee deferral is a request to extend your tuition fee payment due date. Note that if your request is approved, the fees must still be paid, but at a later date. Tuition fee deferrals are only approved for those eligible applicants as defined below. TO BE ELIGIBLE „„ You must have been approved for government student loans — either through BC or another province. „„ If paying from another source such as EI, RRSP, RESP or scholarship, provide proof of funds. „„ In some cases the funding agency may require written permission from you to discuss your request with BCIT. Please note that due to privacy legislation, you may have to give permission to your funding agency to allow that agency to discuss your request with BCIT. In addition, the following conditions must be met: FULL-TIME

PART-TIME

„„ The BCIT Admissions office must have notified you of your acceptance (or provisional acceptance) to an eligible program and the start date.

„„ You must have received program approval.

„„ Your commitment fee must be paid to BCIT before your tuition fee deferral application will be considered.

„„ If you are applying for full-time funding, you must submit a Specific Course Completion Contract form to Student Financial Aid and Awards. „„ If you are applying on the Part-Time Studies Application, you must book an appointment with a financial aid advisor.

PLEASE NOTE „„ Tuition fee deferrals are for one level of study at a time. „„ Airline and Flight Operations (Flying School fee portion) is NOT eligible for BCIT tuition fee deferral. „„ Apprentice students should contact the Apprentice Services Office (SW1–First Floor, Burnaby Campus) or 604.456.8100. „„ The processing time for Tuition Fee Deferral Applications is normally 3 to 5 business days. „„ It is never possible to defer any tuition greater than the student loans that have not yet been paid to you. „„ BCIT does not enter into payment plans with students (ie. paying tuition over a period of months from wages or other current income). „„ Contact Student Financial Aid and Awards at 604.432.8555 if you need more information, or if you wish to make an appointment with a financial aid advisor.
