Presenter Kristin Dempsey, LMFT, LPCC, is a Senior Associate at CIBHS specializing in workforce development and evidence-based practices. She has worked with youth in clinic, school, and private practice settings for over 20 years. Kristin has trained with Dr. Bruce Perry and the Child Trauma Academy staff in the Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics, and has consulted with programs and systems on creating and maintaining trauma informed systems of care.

Who Should Attend County Child Welfare staff, Group Home staff, Behavioral Health clinicians, Family Partners, Parent Partners and others involved in Continuum of Care Reform implementation.

Webinar Series Description Successful Continuum of Care implementation requires counties to collaborate across their child welfare and behavioral health agencies. This three-part webinar series includes an overview and focus on the need for using a trauma-informed care focus in working with children in the child welfare system.

Learning Objectives Webinar #1 Why Trauma Informed Care? • Attendees will identify at least two standard definitions of trauma. • Participants will be able to define Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and ACE Scores, and identify two ways in which ACEs impact youth in the child welfare system. • Participants will be able to describe two ways in which early childhood trauma impacts infant/child brain development.
