USER GUIDE FOR MY LIBRARY DATABASE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM AN CHEN 2013FALL NJIT CS602 LOGIN GUIDE: Click “Change User Type” Button to change user type between admin and reader.

REGISTERED READER OF LIBRARY: Readers only need type in their CardID to login the Database system, which is as same as their own ReaderID. Any integer number between 1-10 could be used to log in, different number means different reader, new reader can be added by admins) ADMINISTRATOR OF LIBRARY: Admins need to type in their own username and password to login the Database system. For example, “admin” for username and “admin” for password. (Case sensitive)

MAIN INTERFACE GUIDE: FOR REGISTERED READER OF LIBRARY:

The first button is used to search documents, and borrow or reserve certain copy of chosen document. Click it you will see the following window.

You can type in certain information or just leave it blank to search documents in the library. After you find the document you need, Select it from the table in the center then click “Check Copy” button. Like the right image above. Previous Search Document window has been iconlized to left bottom corner. Now you can see all copies of this document in different library branch. Choose anyone you like and borrow or reserve it. The status will change in seconds after you click the “Borrow” or “Reserve” button. Before the database finish updating, do not click any button again!

The second button is used to review your borrow history, cancel reserves and return book.

FOR ADMINISTRATOR OF LIBRARY:

The first button is used to add new document. Click it you will see the following window.

Instead of choosing existing publisher from the drop-down list, you can type in new publisher here and implement publisher information later. After you finishing input the information on the first phase, you can click “Next” button to the next phase. The second window will change if you select different document type. The second button is used to search and modify documents or copies. It has the same interface as the reader’s.

The third and fourth button is used to management readers information. The left one is used to add new reader. The right one is used to modify and delete existing reader.

The UTILITY MANAGEMENT in the INFORMATION MANAGEMENT menu bar is used to management publisher and library branch information.

The TOP menu item in the menu bar is used to show some interesting statistical result. Such as which document has been borrowed most frequently in each library branch, which reader has borrowed most documents from each library branch.
