UTS:
PRINCIPALS' RECOMMENDATION SCHEME
UTS Principals’ Recommendation Scheme Overview UTS understands that in some circumstances a student’s performance in their Year 12 studies may not be a true or fair indicator of their ability to succeed at university. The UTS Principals’ Recommendation Scheme (PRS) aims to support Year 12 students experiencing financial hardship who have the potential to succeed at university, to gain access to a place at UTS. Key points: >> Principals are invited to nominate up to four students from each school, who meet the eligibility criteria listed below. >> The UTS Principals’ Recommendation Scheme (PRS) is an extension of the UTS Educational Access Scheme (EAS) for students demonstrating financial disadvantage. Students must lodge an EAS application with UAC prior to applying for this scheme, and submit a PRS application to their Principal. This ensures that PRS nominees are considered for a place under both schemes. >> 200 PRS places are reserved for students who require more than a 10 ATAR point concession below the standard course cut-off for UTS courses. These places will be allocated in order of highest ATAR. All other eligible EAS applicants who require a concession of between 0–10 ATAR points will be offered places through the inpUTS Educational Access Scheme, which reserves 10% of undergraduate course places for EAS students. >> The following courses are not available to applicants of this scheme: −− 601010 B Accounting −− 601095 B Tourism & Hospitality −− 603210 B Information Technology −− 606003 B Nursing (accelerated programs) including 606004 & 606005
Eligibility criteria Applicants must: >> be completing their HSC in 2013 and be eligible to receive an ATAR >> apply for the UAC Educational Access Scheme and meet the financial hardship criteria >> submit a UAC course application, ensuring at least one of the UTS courses listed on this form is also listed as a UAC course preference >> be nominated by their school Principal for the PRS >> achieve a minimum ATAR score of 69 (or 80 for Law) For enquiries about this scheme please call the Equity and Diversity Unit on 9514 2148. For information about the UAC Educational Access Scheme see www.uac.edu.au/undergraduate/eas
