Value-Adding ENR-Based Enterprises for Ligawasan Marsh Communities in Maguindanao Province Objectives:

1.

To establish at least 2 sites of LGU-coordinated but community organization-operated postharvest facilities for freshwater fish (storage, drying, packaging and quality control) from Ligawasan Marsh; 2. To strengthen the capacities of DENR- ARMM and of the LGUs in local governance and supporting the community organizations and households; and 3. To strengthen the capacities of the community organizations and households in marketing and quality control, and assisting them to become sustainable community and household enterprises. Description: The Value-Adding ENR-Based Enterprises for Ligawasan Marsh Communities in Maguindanao Province is a one (1) year project on collaboration with the DENR-ARMM. The project will be implemented in five (5) LGUs of Maguindanao, namely: (1) Datu Piang; (2) Datu Salibo; (3) Mamasapano; (4) Rajah Buayan; and (5) Sharief Saidona. At the end of the project it is expected to help communities in the said LGUs in maximizing the use of natural resources in the marsh using appropriate postharvest techniques. Expected Outputs:  

Post-harvest facilities for freshwater fish fully operational; Training modules on postharvest processing, marketing and quality control of improved and processed fish products developed; Market stalls in Datu Piang established; and Varieties of jobs from peddlers to processing laborers generated.
