Valves OPEN

In the OPEN position, the valve is wide open and water will flow freely in either direction.

CLOSED

In the CLOSED position, the valve is shut off on both sides and water is not allowed to pass in either direction.

FILL

EMPTY

In the EMPTY position of systems 2 & 3, water is allowed to exit the livewell drain, but is not allowed to enter. For system 4, EMPTY allows water to pass in either direction.

In the FILL position, the pump receives outside water only.

RECIRC

In the RECIRC position, the pump receives water from the livewell only. Outside water is blocked.

PUMP OUT

In the PUMP OUT position, livewell water is pumped out of the boat.

Operating Positions

OPEN

Both ports are wide open for flow in both directions. The V1 valve provides remote drain control and eliminates the need for drain plugs and standpipes. A short 60˚ cable throw provides more support, strength, and smoothness than long 90˚ throws used with conventional valves. Features dual seals for positive shut-off in the “CLOSED” position and a straight unrestricted flow path in the “OPEN” position. This valve is non-directional.

Qwik-Lok and Barbed versions The Qwik-Lok version features O-ring seals for use with Qwik-Lok quick connect sockets (MA-014). Qwik-Lok enables the valve or complete valve pump assembly to be removed for service with two fingers. No tools are required.

Attaching the Cable to the Valve Insert the cable “Z” bend from the valve cap side and position the clamp directly behind the enlarged section of cable jacket as shown.

Installing the Cable to the Actuator Insert cable wire through hole in brass arm as shown. Then, position cable assembly into brass bracket U-slot and secure finger tight with knurled nut. Carefully push assembly into 1-3/4” mounting hole and secure with two P/N MD-093 screws. (#6-32, truss head, black oxide, stainless steel.)

Cable Approach The V1 valve is unidirectional and, although the ports are marked “TRANSOM” and “LIVEWELL”, they can be installed in either position.

Valves

Valves V2 Two-Position Automatic

Operating Positions

AUTO The V2 is our reversible check valve that allows a single pump to not only perform the basic livewell functions necessary to keep your catch alive, but does it in a passive or automatic manner. By mounting the pump to the valve body, the operator only has to decide whether he wants his livewell functioning or empty. When the first fish is caught, place the valve in the “AUTO” position and turn on the pump. When the boat is off plane the pump will recirculate and aerate the livewell water and simultaneously blend in a portion of fresh lake water. Used livewell water is expelled out the overflow as fresh water enters to prevent any ammonia build up.

Check flapper in front of transom port allows fresh water to enter when off plane, but not exit. Will automatically close when boat is on plane or pump is turned off. Livewell port remains open for recirculation of livewell water.

When the boat is put on plane, the valve’s check flapper will prevent water loss out the drain, and allow the pump to continue its recirculation duties. Any water lost out the overflow while running on plane is automatically made up when the boat is brought off plane at the next fishing location. All this is accomplished without any operator assistance. To empty, simply turn off the pump and move the valve to the “EMPTY” position for gravity draining.

Check flapper in front of livewell port allows water to exit through transom drain.

The valve body is threaded for mounting the inlet of a centrifugal pump. Use a hacksaw to remove all but about 1-1/4” to 1-1/2” of threads on the pump inlet, apply Teflon tape and mount directly to valve. A 700 to 800 GPH pump is recommended for best performance.

Cable Approach

Front Approach

Rear Approach

The V2 valve has two cable approach options. The cable can approach the valve from either the front/livewell or the rear/ transom side of the boat.

Only specify PEF for higher profile walleye and bay boats where the livewell overflow is 8”-12” above lake level. If it’s more than 12” use the V4 valve. PEF is not generally required for low profile bass boats. While off plane, in the AUTO position, water enters the valve from both the livewell drain and the transom thru-hull. As the water level in the livewell increases so does the pressure on the transom check feature of the valve, reducing the ratio of fresh to recirculated water. When this pressure is too great, PEF insures that enough fresh water is added to force the upper used water out.

Valves V3 Three-Position Automatic

Operating Positions

AUTO Like the V2, the V3 is a reversible check valve that allows a single pump to not only perform the basic livewell functions necessary to keep your catch alive, but does it in a passive or automatic manner. It also has a third closed “RECIRC” position.

For those times when outside water is not wanted or available, such as, adding ice, livewell additives, going through locks, traveling to out of water weigh-ins, dockside refueling or using our optional Pump-out / Venturi Aerator, place the valve in the “RECIRC” position. To empty, simply turn off the pump and move the valve to the “EMPTY” position for gravity draining.

Transom port is sealed to prevent water from entering or exiting. Livewell port is open for recirculation of livewell water on and off plane.

Valves

Valves V4 Three-Position Select

Operating Positions

FILL The V4 valve allows a standard aerator pump to be mounted directly to the valve body for both filling and recirculation duties, thus eliminating the need for 2 separate pumps and additional plumbing. When in the “FILL” position, the valve will close the livewell drain side of the valve so the pump has free access to fresh outside water. Once the livewell is full, the valve is placed in the “RECIRC” position to close the drain and allow full recirculation of the livewell water. Occasionally returning to the “FILL” position will keep the livewell topped off and freshened. The “EMPTY” position allows gravity draining with the pump off. Any additional fill or recirculation pump is optional and only becomes a true back-up to the main system pump. Once the system is put into the “AUTO” position and the pump turned on, all livewell functions are handled so the angler can concentrate on fishing.

Spring loaded button flapper blocks livewell port while transom port is open for pump to fill with fresh water.

RECIRC

Transom port is sealed to prevent water from entering or exiting. Livewell port is open for recirculation of livewell water on and off plane.

Operating Positions

RECIRC

The V5 valve, when placed into the recirculation hose from the pump to the aerator head, will allow the operator to select either “RECIRC” —which allows water to continue on it’s path to the aerator head for recirculation, or “PUMP-OUT” —which diverts the water taken from the livewell for recirculation and discharges it through the pump-out thruhull fitting. Primarily used to fill tournament bags with freshly aerated water or for emptying the livewell when the boat is docked without having to trailer the boat or run on-plane with the drain open.

Water from the recirculation pump enters the valve body and is diverted to the valve transom port and through the pump-out discharge fitting while the valve livewell port is sealed.

PUMP OUT

To Aerator

The V5 valve can be used with any recirculation pump or with any FlowRite system with a designated “RECIRC” mode as with valves V3 and V4. The Qwik-Lok version provides the maximum installation flexibility and ease with “360˚ Plus” inlet connection. A Qwik-Lok hose section can enter from any direction and swivel with the appropriate Qwik-Lok socket; 360˚ with the 90˚ socket or straight in with the straight socket. You only need to specify front or rear cable approach. The barb versions will require front or rear cable approach, plus choosing between a straight or elbow inlet fitting. If choosing an elbow, you will need to choose the direction of the elbow.

Water from the recirculation pump enters the valve body and is diverted to the livewell aerator while the transom port is sealed.
